Violet M. Tuttle, Life Long Quincy Resident at age 85 Violet Mary (Pingree) Tuttle died on Monday, 3/18/02 at the South Shore Hospital. She was born in Boston, MA on 6/26/1916, but she was a life long resident of Quincy, having grown up in Hough's Neck. In recent years she enjoyed living at the elderly facility known as 1000 Southern Artery in Quincy. Mrs. Tuttle graduated from Quincy High School in 1933 and attended the Hough's Neck Congregational Church since its beginning. She was a member of Wollaston Eastern Star. Mrs. Tuttle leaves behind an extended family that admired and appreciated her many talents, especially her cooking, homemaking and sewing skills. For many years, she was employed by the Windsor Button Shop in Braintree. Mrs. Tuttle was the widow of the late Samuel Isaac Tuttle, who was a well-known real estate broker in Quincy for 25 years. She was the mother of the late Samuel Manford Tuttle, who was also a well-known real estate broker in Quincy for over 30 years. She leaves three other sons, Lockhart Pingree Tuttle of Waukegan, IL, William Roger Tuttle of Abington and Norman Eben Tuttle of Quincy. Mrs. Tuttle leaves four grandsons, William Stetson Tuttle of Jamestown, RI, Samuel Alexander Tuttle of Arlington, VA, Andrew Roger Tuttle of New York City and Norman Eben Tuttle, Jr. of Weymouth. Mrs. Tuttle leaves four granddaughters, Linda Tuttle Campbell of Pembroke, Karin Tuttle Murphy of Nashua, NH, Lisa Parsons Paulding of Taunton and Chandra Tuttle of New York City. Mrs. Tuttle leaves seven great-grandchildren, Cameron Michael Tuttle, Justin William Johnston, Nina Alexandra Johnston, Constantina "Stacy" Ursula Polychronopolous, William Polychronopolous, John Edward Campbell and Eric Samuel Campbell. She also leaves one great great-grandson, Kyle Johnston. Mrs. Tuttle leaves two nephews, Lockhart Joseph Pingree of Phoenix, AZ and Robert Paul Pingree of Vernon, CT and one grand nephew, Johan Lockhart Pingree of San Francisco, CA, and three grand nieces, Susan Anne Pingree Traylor, Sandra Marie Pingree Boies, and Heidi Marie Pingree Brown. Visiting hours will be 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, 3/21/02 at the Deware Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, 3/22/02 at the Wollaston Chapel of the Deware Funeral Home 576 Hancock Street Quincy, MA. The funeral service will be conducted by the Rev. Alicia M. Corea and followed by a burial ceremony at the Mt. Wollaston Cemetery in the Merrymount section of Quincy. In lieu of flowers, family and friends are encouraged to make contributions to the Adult Care Center of the Salvation Army located at 6 Baxter Street, Quincy, MA 02169-6932.
