Abigail [128] b. 1666 >> Hi Sue_Fitzpatrick@amat.com: I was about to determine that your post about CLEMENTS was of no interest to me, when I saw the PENGRY names listed. I am very much in need of PENGRY and PINGREE family information. The ones that I do know of were mostly in ME and MA. One fairly recent family name has a uniqueness about it that I thought would lead me right to lots of specific information, but that has not been the case at all. My uncle (mother's brother) had the name of LOCKHART PINGREE. I new him and he lived in No. Quincy, MA. I think he died in the 1950s. I understand that his father, which was also my mother's father, was named LOCKHART PARSON PINGREE and he was from Belfast or Waldo, ME or that county anyway. He probably died in the 1930s, give or take. They were known to be musicians in ME and when they moved down to MA. I was fortunate enough to recently locate the third generation of LOCKHART PINGREE and he currently lives in AZ. I had not been in contact with him for over 45 years. He has a brother ROBERT PAUL PINGREE, said to reside in CT, but I have not been able to actually find him yet. I have some old PENGRY or PINGREE family history information from Internet sources, but I have been unable to find the in between names and so I cannot tie the old and the recent family members together. I would appreciate any information on these names and other spellings that previously were used. For example, PENGRE or even PINGRE. My mother always told me that PINGREE was of French heritage, but all of the PENGRY, etc., names found by me came from England. Of course, that does not automatically mean they were English, but that would be a logical conclusion until I find more information to the contrary. Does anyone have information that would improve my understanding? Please forward whatever information that you are willing to share. Family names being researched: TUTTLE, PINGREE, WEATHERBEE, STETSON & ELLERSHAW. Any information appreciated. William R.
