    2. George B. Tuttle - Alva Tuttle's book does not have much on George B. but he does mention that in the census for 1860 that the family is in Chardon, Ohio. Don't know if the location will help or not. He also has George's birth as Ohio (age 36 and a farmer) and the three children listed in the census, Frank H. (4), Marian L.(2), and William (3 months) as all born in Ohio. Wealthy (27) born in NY. Not much help. Hal Haswell San Jose, CA

    1. [TUTTLE] Tuttle - Rockafellow
    2. George B Tuttle b. 1824 I think in Ohio - perhaps Cortland, Ohio maybe Cortland, NY....married 1855 in Geauga Co Ohio to Wealthy A Rockafellow Children: Frank H, Marian (Mattie), William O. and Charles. In 1863 George is missing and Wealthy and three children (no Mattie) were in the Lake County Ohio Infirmary. Three days later they leave (notation said "we assume they have returned to Detroit"). My great aunt's notes say George died and is buried in Kirtland Ohio - most likely as a pauper as I can't find a headstone....HELP!!! Work like you don't need the money Love like you've never been hurt Dance like nobody's watching Sing like nobody's listening Live like it's heaven on earth

    1. [TUTTLE] Lydia Bassett
    2. Does anyone have any information regarding Lydia Bassett, the wife of Henry Walter, probably born in New Haven/North Haven, CT around 1710-20? He is the son of William Walter who was born in 1677 in Salem, MA and died in New Haven in 1770 and Mary Harris who was born in Boston on 7 Nov 1689 and died in New Haven on 20 Mar 1746. I have no dates for Henry Walter, but his and Lydia's daughter Patience Walter was born in Goshen, CT on 2 Sep 1750. Elliott Hoffman

    1. [TUTTLE] Cyrus Tuttle
    2. Pat Ratcliff
    3. My Great-Great Grandfather was Grant Wheat Tuttle from Kalamazoo. He had a brother George and their father was Lyman. I just found them on the Michigan1870 Census http://envoy.libofmich.lib.mi.us/1870_census/ They are found in Van Buren County, Paw Paw or Paw Paw Village. Grant was 31, George was 29, and Lyman was 60. There is also CYRUS TUTTLE listed who is 43. Does anyone know who Cyrus is, could he have been another brother. Grant was a builder, George was a farmer, Cyrus was a carpenter and his son James was a moulder. These are the only Tuttles listed in Paw Paw. 1. [TUTTLE] Tuttle * Tuthill book
    2. Hi, Listers. Heard from two people about the Tuttle book by Alva Tuttle. Higginson does reprint it for around $100 and Bill Tuttle has reprinted it too. He sells it for $75 plus $3 for book shipping and it is available immediately. His address is Bill Tuttle, 501 Cherry, Warrenton, MO, 63383. Peg in Illinois

    3. Just for information: Higginson Book Co. did reprint this book and I purchased two copies a year or so ago - one in hardback and another in a 2-volume soft-cover. They weren't cheap - about $100 each - but they were worth it to me. Check at www.higginsonbooks.com if they are still operating. 2. Hi, William My information comes from TUTTLE * TUTHILL Lines In America by Alva M. Tuttle. Unfortunately, it is no longer in print but hopefully one day Higginson will reprint it. There are a lot of calls for it. He references some of his material to TF, THE DESCENDANTS OF WILLIAM AND ELIZABETH TUTTLE by George Frederick Tuttle and CWT, the notes and papers of Charles Wesley Tuttle, 1 Nov. 1829. Some of these are printed in GFT's book and some were printed in the Dover Enquirer. Following is the information that I found concerning Thomas and his ancestors: 1. Thomas Tuttle: b 4 Apr 1674, Dover, NH. Died unmarried 26 Apr 1699. Drowned Bay of Campeche off Mexican shore. TF. 2. John Tuttle: b c 1646, Dover, NH. d. June 1720, Dover, NH. He had much land, sawmills, ships. He was a judge C't Common Pleas and had several offices in Dover. m. Mary (CWT and TF) Children: Dorothy c 1660's, Mary c 1670, John c 1671, dau married HAYES, Thomas 4 Apr 1674, Sarah c 1670's, Elizabeth c 1670's, James 7 Apr 1683, Ebenezer c 16996-9. 3.John Tuttle: b c 1610's England or Wales. With family on Angel Gabriel from Bristol, Eng 23 May 1635; ship wrecked in gale 15 Aug 1635 on coast of ME; he and family to Chebasco (about present Essex, Mass) and soon to Dover, NH perhaps by 1638; 1642 drew Lot 7 in first div (he gives this abbreviation as divorce - you suppose it's a special term used then in land disbursements ???) west side of Back River; inventory June 1663 Dover, widow Dorothy administrator, she taxed 1663 and 1664. nfr (couldn't find a definition for this abbreviation) CWT. Children: Elizabeth c 1630"s, Thomas c 1640's, John c 1646. Hope this will give you some clues in you search. Good luck! Peg in Illinois

    2. Hello, All sources I have say that Thomas was unmarried. He drowned in 1699 in the Bay of Campeche off the Mexican shore. I got that info from the "Shipwreck" John Tuttle book by Gwen Campbell. If you are interested in this Family line, I would recommend this book. 1. [TUTTLE] Scotch-Irish Research
    2. Good morning, I received the following info from the McINTYRE mailing-list. I thought it would be of great interest to these doing Scotch-Irish Research! :) Happy hunting, Helen (DCGS) ------------------------------------------------------ This article from the Irish Ancestors section of the Irish Times newspaper online (www.ireland.com) describes the work of the Scotch-Irish Foundation, which may be of help to list members researching MacIntyres with roots in Ulster. Best regards, PK Murphy, in Toronto ** This article was originally published in The Irish At Home and Abroad journal of Irish genealogy and heritage (volume 2 #1, 1994/1995). Published four times yearly. Colonial Scots-Irish Immigrants: Scotch-Irish Foundation By Kyle J. Betit The Scotch-Irish Foundation (PO Box 181, Bryn Mawr, PA 19010) was established as a Pennsylvania non-profit corporation in 1949, specifically to collect records relating to the Scots-Irish and to preserve their history. They collect published books, family histories, letters, journals, and other records relating to Scots- Irish immigration and settlement in America. Upon entrance, each member contributes a "Family Registration" form detailing information on his or her Scots-Irish ancestors. Membership in the foundation costs $10.00, after which there are no annual dues. The Scotch-Irish Foundation's collections (including the family registrations) are housed at The Balch Institute for Ethnic Studies (18 South 7th Street, Philadelphia, PA 19106) where they are available to the public for research. Books in the foundation's collections can also be borrowed through inter-library loan at a public library. Neither the foundation nor the Balch Institute conducts research in response to genealogical queries. The foundation published a catalog, Library and Archives of the Scotch-Irish Foundation (1991), which includes bibliographies of their collections (available for $10.00). At the back of the catalog are listed the "first authentic Scotch-Irish ancestor in America" from the family registrations filed with the foundation. ---------------------------------------------------

Alva Tuttle published a limited number of these books some time ago and they are no longer available. Gwen Campbell has taken Alva's works and put it in the form of family group records and published the results in three or four volumes (I've forgotten which). The address for the books used to be Solo Press, P.O. Box 507, Keno, OR 97627. I am not sure whether Gwen is still in business at this address or not but try writing to the address with the name and as much information about the Tuttle(s) you are interested in and she will tell you which volume you need for your line and give you the price and ordering information. I have an original of Alva's book and one of Gwen's volumes and have been pleased with her work. It is easier to use than Alva's. The price for mine was $30 some years ago. Another good Tuttle book "The Descendants of William and Elizabeth Tuttle" by George Fredrick Tuttle was available in reprint form (2 volumes) from Heritage Books Inc., 1540-E Pointers Ridge Place, Bowie, Maryland 20716 (Phone 1-800-398-7707). I don't know if the reprint is still available or not but it would be worth a letter or a phone call. I would recommend both of these publications to anyone researching the lines of Tuttles that descended from William and Elizabeth. Hal Haswell San Jose, CA
