    3. Valerie, Interesting! Wondering about connections to my Samuel. Samuel Turner, born 1812 SC arrived in TX 1837 married 1839 to Emily Midkiff in Nacogdoches Co, TX 1850 Jasper Co, TX census 1860 Trinity Co, TX census Emily's family lived in Grimes Co, TX. Wondering if there could be any ties to these Turners? Family stories about family back in AL but never have had any proof of these stories so always wondered where the story came from about AL. Here's a story proven untrue. The family said Moses Turner traded his land with Samuel Houston Turner in Trinity Co, TX for a wagon and "went back to AL." Well, Moses is on the Trinity Co, TX census records until death but there was a family feud over some land. But what about the story about AL? Could there have been family in AL? Could the ones who ended up in Grimes Co, TX be related? I know the Midkiff is mispelled on census for 1850/60. I think it is spelled Medcliff or something like that. Other names related to the Midkiff would be Plaster, Bean, Howell. Do you find any of those near your Turners? vjadams@att.net wrote: I have a brick wall Turner. My proven Turner is James H. Turner born Alabama born 1834 in Alabama. He Married Melvona F. Posey in Butler County Alabama 23 February 1864. He was in Lowndes County, Alabama in 1870 and by 1871 he was in Grimes County, Texas where he lived until death. We believe his father to be David Turner born 1800 North Carolina and married to Sarah. David and Sarah Turner owned land and lived on the adjoining farm to Moses and Charity Posey, parents of James' wife, Melvona (Posey) Turner. In 1860 David Turner disappears in Alabama but there is a David Turner in Grimes County, Texas. Children doesn't seem to match but the Turner's always had other children in their home. In 1900 James H. Turner and Melvona had a David J. Turner born 1881 in Texas (a nephew) and a Mande Turner born 1883 in Texas (a niece). Possibly children of a brother to James H.????? ---- Does anyone know anything about any or all of the above Turners? James H. and Sarah did have three sons other than George William Turner, our ancestor, but I've not been able to find their de! scendan ts. They were James Thomas Turner born December 1868 in Alabama . Married Jennie Appling 1896 in Grimes County, Texas; Charles E. Turner born 1879 Texas married Frlorence Woodard 04 September 1904 Grimes County, Texas. Frank Turner born March 1884 in Texas. No further information on these three. There are no Turner males descended from George William Turner, therefore I have no method for DNA at this time. I would love to hear from anyone with help on this family. Thanks.
