January 8, 1986 JOE LUCIAN TURNER [ Front Page with Picture] Joe Lucian [Honey] Turner, 61, died Tuesday, December 31, 1985, in Emory University Hospital, Atlanta. Funeral services were held in the Ideal Baptist Church at 3 pm Thursday, January 2, 1986. The Rev. Sidney Clay and the Rev. Clarence Keene officiated. Burial was in IDEAL CEMETERY with Masonic rites. Mr. Turner, a life long resident of Ideal, was orn September 5, 1924, a son of C. B. Turner and Irma Joyce Turner. He was a member and chairman of the Board of Deacons of the Ideal Baptist Church. He was currently serving as Mayor of Ideal and was a former city councilman. He was the owner of the Ideal Surplus Store, retired chief of the Ideal Fire Department and a retired resident engineer with the Georgia Department of Transportation. He was the president of the third district of the Georgia Municipal Association, member and president of the Ideal Lions Club, member and past president of the Macon County Shrine Club and the unit leader of the Macon County Flints. He was a member and past worshipful master of Traveler's Rest Masonic Lodge # 65 and a member of Al Sihah Temple and the Scottish Rite Bodies. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II and was a member of the American Legion. Survivors are his wife, Ellen Satterfield Turner; four sons, John Garlen Turner, Joe Lynn Turner, Dudley Carroll Turner, James Dennis turner; a brother, Larry L. Turner and five grandchildren, all of Ideal. Pallbearers were Arthur Pearson, Buddy Clark, Terry Kanazawa, George Smith, Ed Fore, and James Taylor.
