    3. Responding to the roll call, although it's not very long since I joined this list and posted my interests: Edmund Swan TURNER, born Hereford abt 1821. His parents, according to his marriage certificate (2nd marriage, 1877; Scotland), were John M. TURNER and Sarah Ann SWAN, by then deceased. He married Frances LOKER (difficult to read, but that's what it looks like -- born in abt 1817 in Essex) in St Pancras, London in 1847, according to a child's birth certificate. By 1855, Edmund was employed as a butler in Scotland. He and Frances had had six children, of which four had survived. The sixth was born and baptised Charlotte Margaret in the parish of Auchtergave. They had at least one further child, Hannah Maria, born in 1858 in the parish of St Andrews and St Leonards, Fife, Scotland. So far, I have been unable to find the names of the other children, and Charlotte and Hannah (known as Maria) seem to have disappeared (I've not found marriages for them, either) between the censuses of 1881 and 1891. At some point between 1858 and 1877, Edmund changed profession and set up as a grocer and wine merchant in St Andrews. Just a few months after Frances died (a "lunatic" in an asylum) in April 1877, he remarried -- to a young English girl, Ada Mary BOUCHER. They had one child, Winifred TURNER, born in November 1878 in St Andrews. Edmund died in Scotland some time between the 1891 and 1901 censuses Some time between the 1901 census and 1907, Winifred and Ada moved to Hull, Yorks, where Winifred married Henry STOKES and raised a family. Ada died, a widow, in 1915. Deborah Hants, UK
