Hi list, my gr-gr-gr-gr-father was a John Turner, in 1773 of Great Cumberland Street in Middlesex, England, when he was a part in writing his daughter Sarah's mariage bond. She in 1776 in Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire married the potter, Thomas Whieldon. She was born abt. 1748 and died at Ivy House in Stoke, Staffordshire. Her sister Lucy Turner died 1830, I have her will in copy. The text is: This is my last Will, October 15' 1829, London. I bequath to my Niece Louisa Maria Goodwin five hundred pounds that I have in the Bank of England 4 percent & fifty pounds if not drawn at before my decease I likewise give to my above mentioned Niece Louisa Maria Goodwin out of the couts .... coaches and Stables in Beyanston & Cumberland News I bequath to my Sister Charlotte Hallen at whose decease I give to my Niece Sophia Baystone Hallen but at her decease to return to my Niece Louisa M. Goodwin My Trintots Books to Sophia Hallen mith my Silver Cruet Stander .. if Sophie B. Hallen entlives the Lease of Coaehouse Stables there I do not charge my Niece L. M. G. cash paying the £ 6 but it must rease the 4 a year which Mr. Durnford pays me for Ground cont I will that my Niece Char[lotte] Baddeley Inur (?) & to whom I stood Godmother shall recover that so long as the least continued to my Nephew Wh[ieldon] I give the remaining part of .... old China Table Service and Back Gammon Table his brotherI T to gave me to my Nephew George Whieldon & Edward Whieldon my father's picture only letting it remain with George Goodwin during his life likewise my Gold Watch which their Brother John Turner Whieldon gave me they will settle it between thenselves whichshall take that to my Niece Charlotte Baddeley I bequath a Bedstaed with two sets of furniture belonging to it f..... two pillows new counterpane new blankets or nearly new to my Niece Emma Baddeley, a set of Tea China a the ... same to so far a small pair of Bracelet Burtles to Mary Baddeley my Niece as they may agree to take between them the two younger ones..... Hele[na] Baddeley & Louisa Baddeley must have some of my little mahogony boxes & writing desk. A Mahogony writing desk ahich may serve as a memento of one who wishes she had something of more value to have left them if my Niece Louisa Maria Goodwin dies unmarried or without Ch.... Child then all which will possess from me shal be devided .... my Niece Charlotte Baddeley sic..... Daughters Charlotte, Emma, Sofa, Mary, Helena Louisa Baddeley hope I have not make any unstate from want of sight but if soleases the almighty to spare my life a little longer I will find out some one to read and rorr at what I fear to have omitted. Appeared Personally John Turner Hallon of Sloan Street Chelsea in the county of Middelsex Esquire and Gustavus Ware of Birmingham in the county of Warwick Glazier and made oath that they know and well acquainted with Lucy Turner late of the Town of Derby in the county of Berdy Spinster deceased and also with her manner and charactor of handwriting and subscription having often seen her write and subscribe her name and having now viewed and proceeded the paper writing be... announced purporting to be contain the last will and Testament of the said deceased beginning thus "this is my last will October 15' 1829 London" ending thus "Signed by me October 15' 1829" and thus subscribed Lucy Turner" these deponents and they do vouly and in their constances believe the whole of the said will with the subscribtion thereto to be of the proper handwriting and subscribtion of the said Lucy Turner Spinster deceased.
