New kid here, sooooo many Turners, good Name! My grandfather was B: 9-19-1881 either Elijay, Gilmer Co., or Lumpkin Co., he is my brick wall, because believe he was born out of wed-lock and he took his mothers name. This is all hearsay, just don't know. First census have on him is 1900, Lumpkin Co., living with a Mary Berry widow age 62 as a lodger, along with a Martin Wehunt age 12 and, Elisha Dempsey age 25, grandpa's name was Robert B. Turner he was 18. Too bad the 1890 census was destroyed, might not have this brick wall. He married Cordelia (Delia) STONE Turner B: 1886 Lumpkin co., d/o John M. Stone and, Lucyana Elizabeth (Bessie) WEHUNT Stone. Robert (Bob) Turner and Delia STONE Turner had 11 children. Carrie Turner B: 1903 Marietta Ga. Annie TURNER Thurman B: 1905 Coal Town Tenn. Coia TURNER CAMPBELL Moiser B: 1906 Coal Town Tenn. Bud C. Turner B: 1909 Duck Town Tenn. Elsie Turner B: 1911 Copper Hill Tenn. Cleo TURNER Moiser B: 1913 Dumps Creek Va. Earl Turner B: 1913 Dumps Creek Va. Robert E. Turner B: 1916 Mascot Tenn. Carl L. Turner B: 1919 Mascot Tenn. Marie TURNER Williams B: 1922 Mascot Tenn. Richard Turner B: 1924 Fort Ridge Ky Robert (Bob) Turner was a miner, most of his children moved to TX in early 1930's, along with their mother Delia Turner. We lost him around 1940, not sure where he died at, as these two separated when Delia and her children moved to TX, that's another story, they moved From Harlan Co. Ky. and times were tough then. Think he may have gone to Va., or WV? So guess I'll just read all the post on this site and hope my Bob Turner will turn up someday. One of the male descendants did do the Turner DNA but, no match, wouldn't if the mother was the Turner. We do know Bob Turner called himself Bob Woody, sometimes, don't know why.
