Background Vine Turner(Consider, Richard, John, John, Humphrey) who was born abt 1790 in Scituate, MA, was living in Lempster, New Hampshire when he married Melinda Miner in 1820. Vines's first child was Charlett. His last child was Gardner W. who died in the Civil War unmarried. In the 1850 census Vine was living with his wife, and Gardner in the household of Albert (David, Joel, Ezra, Thomas, John, Richard) Porter and Candis. From the various town histories books of Cheshire County, New Hampshire I know that Candis's (DOB abt 1828) maiden name was Turner, so I am pretty sure that Candis is Vine's other daughter. (There were two daughters according to the 1830 and 1840 census.) Vine spent most of the next thirty years in and around Lempster, New Hampshire. Seeking 1.
