A new DNA result has just been returned from the lab documenting the following line. I will try to get it posted to the Turner DNA Project website as soon as possible. Remember to check out the project regularly at: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~turnerdna/ Click on the word "Results" on the left for the results chart. This is the new line that has been documented. Thomas Turner b 1743 Newry, Ireland d 11/17/1796 Pendleton Dist. SC m Priscilla Alexander William Turner b abt. 1771 Pendleton Dist. SC d unk Floyd County, GA m Margaret Jane Steele Moses S. Turner b 01 May 1808 Pendleton Dist. SC d 22 Mar 1893 Franklin Co., AR m Eliza Jane Bates Henry Clay Turner b 29 Feb 1848 Floyd Co., Ga. d 15 Jul 1918 Franklin Co., AR m Mary Ann Moose Beve Niece Turner b 25 Jan 1878 Franklin Co., AR d 03 Apr 1961 Lubbock, TX m Ora Myrtle Huggins Edwin Clarence Turner Sr. b. 24 Sep 1914 Okemah, OK d. 29 Mar 1998 Conroe, TX He is a perfect match on 25 markers to the line of Thomas Turner married Priscilla Alexander through their son James Turner born 1773 in Old Pendleton District, SC (Kit #20792 on the Turner DNA Project's Results chart). This is a good confirmation that we have a valid DNA signature for the line of Thomas Turner. Regular research thoroughly documents that William Turner who was married to Margaret Jane Steele lived in Old Pendleton District SC at the correct time. The other kit #50103 we have that matches Kit #20792 on 37 of 37 markers clearly is related to this group also. However, at this point, very little is known about the earliest known ancestor Major Lewis Turner to know exactly how he fits into this family. I hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving and they found all their answers to their genealogy puzzles when their "oldest known ancestor" showed up for dinner. If not, then try the next best thing and get a male Turner of your group to join us in this adventure. It isn't too early to think about giving a DNA test kit to your special male Turner family member to document your line of Turners. What a great gift idea that would be. Gail R. Thanks so much to all who contributed. Now I can stop trying to figure out if this family is connected to my Samuel Turner, born 1812 SC in the Salmon group! Didn't this Moses marry in Warren Co, TN? There was a Madison Turner on 1850 Jasper Co, TX census, born in Warren Co, TN and that is what got me to searching on Moses Turner/Eliza Bates. I wonder if Madison is connected to our Samuel or your Moses? We need a participate in the Madison Turner group to solve this mystery. Now you've all really got me wondering! "Gail R.
