Source: Franklin Co., VA Court Order Book 2 [1789-1793], April 1791, p. 128. A deed from Turners Legatees to Thomas Hale acknowledged & ELENDER the wife of JOHN TURNER & MARY the wife of WM. CREASY & BATHSHEBA wife to THOMAS OVERSTREET & ELIZ'A [Elizabeth] wife of WM. TURNER and MARY the wife of JAMES TURNER & JANEY the wife of KINSEY COTES. The wives were privately examined and relinquished their rights. It was ordered that the deed be recorded. Although this does not help me find my Admire Turner...it does answer some other questions. The above named Turner legatees must be the children of a previous marriage...and it would have to have been prior to 1784 for this many children to be married. Jonas chose William Turner as his guardian and evidently, William was his older brother. Thomas Hale made bond in Feb 1791 as the guardian of the 4 orphans of James Turner...namely Jesse, Patty, Admire and Delilah. These must be the widow Patty's children. Brenda Carroll
