Donald, Try and start tracing some of the genealogies of the neighbors. I bet you'll find information there. For example, Samuel Turner, born 1812 SC is my brick wall. In Trinity Co, TX census of 1860 I started tracing the families of neighbors and found some of the neighbors were actually kin to and former neighbors of other Turners verified in the same DNA branch. That still did not provide verification of Sameul's father but did give a lot of interesting information. There were Duncans who were neighbors to other Turners earlier in another state who were in the same DNA branch. Shows they at least knew each other fairly well and were prior neighbors of possible cousins. It might work out better for you. I've found some of the families were prior neighbors of Samuel's wife's family also. It took almost a year but I now have 2 matches. All three of us have traced our Turner back to Joseph Turner Sr. B abt. 1750 in VA. and died Nov.1800 in KY. I have been in contact with several other Turners that may be in my line and NOT A ONE can get past Joseph, Sr. A few others say they have but when I check into it their information is wrong. I paid a professional to check just Joseph Sr. And he could not find his Father. Right now I have him listed as being found in the Cabage patch with the easter bunny and Santa Clause.
