He's a son of John Turner and Sally Miles who were married in Bedford Co., VA 22 February 1808. Sally Miles is the daughter of Isham Johnson Miles who was born in Charles City Co., VA before 1748 and his wife Elizabeth Carter born before 1767 in Buckingham Co., VA. Isham Johnson Miles is the son of John Miles, Jr. who died before November 1750 in Charles City Co., VA and his wife Ann. Now the query: was the wife of John Miles, Jr. Ann Tilman? It's not unusual for a woman's maiden name to appear in one of her son's names and that name be carried on. Could this great-grandson be named for a great-grandmother?
