Hi, I don't know if you looked at the 1880 census for Bell County, but in the 1880 Census- Ed #6 Household #61. This is how Francis Owens is listed. Owens, Francis 25 TN " Hanah J. 27 KY (maiden name Overton) Bryant, Sallie 10 KY Step-daughter " Patsey E. 8 KY Step-daughter " W. T. 7 KY Step-son Owens, James T. 2 KY Son ) This son is living next door to Francis in 1900) " John D. 1 month KY Son (This son is living next door to Francis in 1900) Overton, Edgar 60 KY Father in Law. In the vital records, James Owens was born 28, May 1878 to F. Owens, B. TN and __Bryant b. Whitley Co. KY. James was born in Bell County. There are lots of Owens in Knox Co. KY in 1850-1860, but none in 1870. I have found many Owens in the early years of Claiborne Co, TN, but haven't looked in the 1850-1860-1870. You might want to try in that county.
