Following is information gathered for my Grandparents whom we are having a terrible time finding, Especially our Grandmother LINDY OWENS/ she was also knows as LINDA/MANDY/MELINDA/MALINDA/LIZZIE/MOLEUDA/AMANDA/MOLINA/MOLINDHY Believe me, I am not making this up. We have been told so many different things that we are totally confused and in hopes that someone out there can get us on the right tract to move forward in developing out Family Tree. 1900 Bell County Census Linda Owens' father was Francis M. Owens it doesn't list a mother's name Frances M. Owens was married to Alice Evans(Evins/Evens) Note: We do not agree that this was the mother of Lindy. But a Stepmother Linda or Malinda was a Half-Sister to William Henry Bryant, who was married to Fannie (Nancy) Cathrine (Marsee) Bryant. William Henry Bryant was the son of Alford Bryant and Anne Sego as stated on his death certificate. Henry Bryant was b.approx.1872 at abt 41, Struck by Lightening. Bell County, Ky. He is buried in Hensley Cemetery, Noetown, Ky. (Henry's death certificate states that he was buried in Rains Cemetery, was he moved later in the years) Anne Sego Parents were Andy Stephens and Peggie Petrey. According to here death certificate. Ann died May 8, 1914. She was born 1832, she was 62 yrs old. Whitley Co. She is buried in Pine Grove Cemetery, Summer, Ky. J. F. Bryant was the informant. 1910 Bell County Census #No.392 Raines, Milt = 44 Linda w = 25 Frances d = 3 Charley s = 1 Other Neighbors were: #No.389 Carmack, John = 24 TN Delia (Boyd) w = 18 NC Huston s = 3 Sarah d = 2 #No.390 Ridings, Ben = 28 TN Nancy Mae (Turner) Ridings w = 22 TN Leona d = 5 TN Gracie d = 2 TN #No.391 Bryant, W. Henry = 30 Katherine (Marsee) = 29 Harvey s = 16 Roscoe s = 14 Glynn s = 12 Samantha (Sam) Love (aka Maggie) d = 7 Cora Rebecca d = 1 Linda Owens m. 1st Nelson Marsee, Clairborne, TN on Jan.1, 1903 by J. M. Drummond. She divorced Nelson Marsee approx. 1908. Length of marriage approx. 5 years. And actually lived with him approx. 2 years. Linda Owens then married Milt Raines (M.Book, Page 246 Bell Co. dated at Pineville) on Dec. 11. 1909. Marriage License states: Milt Rains, Shamrock, Ky, Age 44, 1st. Marriage. Occupation Coal Miner, Father Red Rains and does not state a mother's name. Linda Owens, Shamrock, Ky, Age 24, 2nd Marriage, Father Frances Owens, does not state a mothers name. Date of Marriage Dec. 11, 1909. Witness: David H. Doyle, Mrs. Janes Powell and Mrs. W. T. Robbins. Linda Owens gives birth to a child: William France Rains (This is not the name he was born with) According to his death certificate he was born May 6, 1908 in Stonega, Va. and lists: Parents Milt Rains and Lindy (Owens) Rains, Witnessed David Doyle. This certificate was not filed until 1942. 11/24/1913 Linda Rains - Milton Rains and Catherine Bryant witnessed a marriage for William Harvey Bryant to Nannie L. Brady. Harvey would have been a 1/2 uncle to Linda (Owens) Rains. In 1917, Nov. 30 = Linda (Owens) Rains gave birth to a Child. John Thomas Rains. birth certificate states his parents as: J. M. Rains (J. M. Bains) and Malinda (Moleuda, the certificate was ordered with this name) Owens. It states there was 2 births at this time, twins born to Linda Owens Rains. Searching for other child. John Thomas Rains d. Sept. 4, 1987 and is buried at Evarts Memorial Gardens, Evarts, Ky. He married Maggie White. 1920 Bell County Census #No 96 Hignite Hollow Raines, Milt = 53 Linda = 33 Frances d=11 Thomas s=2-1/2 Feb. 1, 1921- Letter to Mr. Milt Rains, Shamrock, Ky. from J. D. Owens, Norton, Va. Mar. 8, 1921- Letter sent to Mrs. Malinda Rains, Shamrock, Ky. marked (Persenley, exactly as shown on letter) July 5, 1926 - Letter sent to Mrs. Linda Rains, R#3 VD Box 148, Middlesboro, Ky. Linda (Owens) Rains cannot be found, nor cannot find a birth certificate, death certificate after 1926. We cannot find a birth certificate for William France Rains either.
