In reference to your Eliza Turner born ca 1810, married Logan 1836, first child Martha Jane born in VA, named in one census spelled TURNEY. Be aware there were 3 different Turney lines in Smith co TN from ca 1808 to sometime in 1840s. One of these lines is supposed to have come out of Patrick county Virginia about 1808 along with Adams, Overall, Keaton. I have not been able to find this TURNEY family in Patrick co Virginia as yet, but the others were there. I mention Patrick co VA because there is a Turner family from there - James Isiah Turner born abt 1775 Albermerle County, Virginia, died abt 1825 Wilson county Tennessee. His parents were Francis Turner, SR. and Elizabeth. (this is all from a Turner researcher so I cannot say it is for sure). James Isiah Turner was married to Elizabeth Harris. He also married 26 December 1796 Patrick co VA to Ann Reeves. Ann Reeves born about 1780 VA d/o George Reeves and Mary Young. I list for this TURNER family an Elizabeth Turner born abt 1797 VA, married 24 October 1820 Wilson co., TN to Robert McKee, she died aft 1870. I have some of the Franklin co VA marriage records from 1790s, and there are several Turner, Reeves, and Young. Franklin co Va became Patrick CO later. So it would seem that this Turner family was with a Turney group in early 1800s in Patrick co VA. If you are still with me, James Isiah Turner and wife Ann Reeves had two of their sons who married into my Turney family in 1820s in Smith Co TN. Smith was very big then, the TURNEY family lived near Liberty TN near border of what would become Dekalb and Cannon Co. My Turney family 1774 was on Holston river in what would become Eastern TN, from Hawkins co TN to Smith ca 1806. George Turney and Catherine Barger Turney: Katherine Turney born ca 1806 married John Turner born 1803 Patrick co VA. he died before 1857 in Dekalb county TN. I do not have their children. Elizabeth TURNEY born 1805 TN, married 1821 TN to Francis L. TURNER. Francis L. Turner born 1804 Patrick county VA, died aft 1870 TN. this could not be your Eliza because I do have the children of this marriage. I think this couple is the one who bought some Spurlock land in Cannon co TN. I do know that one son was Francis Turner born 18 Jan 1839 Dekalb co TN, married 18 Jan 1860 Dekalb co TN to Mary Ashworth, died 04 april 1917 in Ellis county, Texas. So I suspect that they also lived in that area where Dekalb and Cannon Counties meet. Maybe looking in Patrick co VA would help you, as I said, I figure they probably made the move to TN in early 1800s. James Isiah Turner had a child 1811 in Patrick co VA, and the next one 1816 in Wilson co TN. so the move would have been after the 1808/1809 move of Isaac Turney, Adams, Keaton, etc. from Patrick Co VA. I hope I have not totally confused everyone - both the Turner and Turney families are such a joy to work with - they are such a mess. Mary hlm@qtm.net
