    3. sorry - made a big mistake, this is a corrected copy. I have found the following and not sure if he is a Turney or a Turner OVER THE MOUNTAIN MEN Their Early Court Records in Southwest Virginia compiled by Anne Lowry Worell pension records Montgomery County VA page 64 Teaney, Daniel. Filed Sept. 1832. Aged 75. Enlisted in New Providence, Philadelphia Co., PA., in 1776, served until 1777. Subs. for his brother, Henry Teaney. Names officers, Capts. John Edwards; Arnold Francis; Wm. Davis; James Tate; John Dickey. Cols. Faniel Heister, John Bull; last two tours were in Augusta Co., VA. (my note - if 75 years old in 1832, he was born ca 1757. Some of my Turneys - Daniel and Henry - were in PA at that time.) As I said, expecially in 1700s the Turney and Turner names are often mixed-up. By 1800 the records seem to usually be correct. Except I had an Isaac Turney in Arkansas I could not find his War of 1812 records - and he seemed to have had a difficult time proving his service. Turned down first time he applied for a pension, but got it on the second try. When I finally found his service record at Natl. Ar. on the outside of records he was listed as Isaac Turner. So watch out for that. Mary Turney Miller hlm@qtm.net
