In doing 1840 Van Buren County Arkansas census research on my Turney line, some of the other families in that census come out of Franklin County Virginia in 1790s. So I made a note of the Turner marriages also and will pass on. Franklin County Virginia Marriage Records 1786 through 1806 from OVER THE MOUNTAIN MEN compiled by Anne Lowry Worell Turner, George and Elizabeth Greer. Joseph Greer, sur. - Dec. 2, 1805 Turner, Isham and Elizabeth Young, dau. Catherine and Allen Redley Young - Mar. 16, 1792 Turner, Isiah and Elizabeth Candy. Jas. Prunty, sur. - Dec. 9, 1797 Turner, James and Elizabeth Brown, mar. ret. by J.J. - Jan 4, 1791. Turner, James and Mary Mallery, dau. Richard Mallery - Dec. 21, 1790. Turner, James and Lydda Rentfro, dau. Joseph Rentfro - Jan 13, 1787. Turner, Jermiah and Rachel Ross, dau. Daniel Ross - Apr. 21, 1792. There are no Turner on the 1840 VBC Arkansas census, but many of the families have a connection to this Franklin Co VA. Rentfro/Renfro was a minister and married several of these families. My Potter family is here - marrys a Kirdy - and later the family 1840 AR. Young, Owen, Reeves - they are all in Franklin Co VA 1790s and then 1840 in Arkansas. I have not filled in the middle section which would be Tennessee I am sure. Some of them had siblings who in 1830s moved to Searcy Co Arkansas and there are Turner located there. In 1820s in Tennessee two Turney sisters marry two Turner brothers. These Turner are the sons of James Turner the son of Francis Turner Sr and wife Elizabeth of VA. The wife of James Turner was Ann Reeves d/o George Reeves and Mary Young. All of these surnames live near each other in TN in 1820s, then show up in 1840 Arkansas. Mary
