    3. This material is pulled from the 2 vols. of Annals of Southwest Virginia 1769-1800 by Lewis Preston Summers. I trust I have found all the Turners. Botetourt County, VA 1788 Francis Turner was grantee 43 acres on West Fork Little River 1787 Francis Turner was grantee 194 acres on Rush Fork Little River 1803 Ezekial Turner married Sarah Hornd, father Wm Hornd. 1788 John Turney married Rebekah McMahan, father Mechart McMahan (Note name of this man is spelled different) None of the above names were indexed but were in alphabetically listings. 1774 a Michael Tomey was fined for no serving as juryman. Note spelling difference. Montgomery County, VA 1799 Thomas Turner was appointed oversee of the road from William Pepper's to Addairs Ferry. (indexed) 1781 James Turner was grantee of 400 acres on S. Fork Greasy C. Br. New R. 1796 Thomas Turner was grantee of 80 acres on headwaters of Plumb C. from John Ellis. Washington County, VA 1783 Henry Turner was the defendant incase with Henry Herklerode plaintiff. No idea what the problem was - had attornies and jury. 1779 Henry Turney (note spelling) appraissses the estate of Martin Statzer 1779 Henry Turney and Henry Hutton were defendants with Henry Harkleroad, plaintiff. Nothing more noted. 1778 Peter Turney was listed in index but couldn't find on page but it dealt with court procedures and long list of names. 1779 Peter Turney under Common Law New Causes vs Edward Bond, dismissed. 1781 Peter Turney jury formed in case Edward Bond vs Peter Turney defendant in case. After county information on Botetourt, Fincastle, Montgomery, Washington, Wythe there was a list of soldiers from different wars. Not indexed but usually in alphabetical order. Revolutinary Soldiers Peter Torney served in Captain Evan Shelby's Company of volunteers from Watauga Valley in Fincastle County. Peter is listed twice under Cap. Shelby's group - both times as Torney Cherokee Expedition - 1776 under Col. William Christian as private served Peter Turney In Capt. Daniel Smith's co. at Elk Garden Fort in 1774 was Joseph Turner Very few Turners found in this area considering the book was 1635 pages. Hope this helps someone, however. Deana Dcost@compuserve.com
