    3. Abstracted from book Fauquier County, VA 1759-1959. The following Turner names are mentioned. Thomas Turner IV and wife Elizabeth Carter Randolph came from King George Co. in 1823, built Kinloch. Robert E. Lee spent time here as Turner was his guardian. Augustine Washington sent silver to his friend Edward, son of Thomas, during C. War. Kinloch passed to Loughborough Turner at Edward's death, remained in his possession until 1921. Another entry, Edward Carter Turner of Kinloch in 1865 purchased Montrose andhas remained in family since. Circuit Judges of Fauquier Edward S, Turner 1906-1916 Two entries combined: P. 31 adn 37 1740 Harry Turner granted 1,700 acres by Fairfax, later sold to his grandson, Thomas Marshall in 1773, father of Chief Justice Marshall. Thomas, Sixth Lord Fairfax, grants to Mr. Harry Turner of hte County of King George one tract of land being in County of Prince Williams, near mountain North Cobler. Rose Hill , one of oldest dwelling still standing, built by Hezekiah Turner, native of Maryland, built at close of Rev. WAr. Post Offices in 1849 - Moreland, Jas. T. Turner Building thought to be oldest in Marshall stone house on Main STreet was once owned by John A. Turner among many others...as listed Thomas Rector, Wm Elgin, Joseph Fauntleroy, Turner, Joseph Looughborough, Cockran whose heirs sold it in 1884. Dondoric on U. S. Rt. 12 near Marshall is a home once lived in by John M. Turner, no dates to connect to time. Built by Horner family in 1818. Clerks of Circuit Superior Court - John R, Turner 1881-1918 Greenland, grant to Col. Ball, sold to John Adams whose grandson James Ewell sold 1000 acres to Major Thomas Chunn in 1776, part sold to robert Ashby whoo moved from Frederick (now Clarke) Co. to yew Hill. John Ashby married Mary Turner of CharlesCo., MD and their son, Col. Turner Ashby was the father of Gen. Turner Ashby. Col. Thomas Turner of King George, added to his acreage. In his will he leaves my cobler Mountain to grandson Turner Dixon drawn in 1757. Woodside, near Delaplane, tract purchased by Col. Thomas Marshall in 1773 from Thomas Turner. Waverley, In 1772 Thomas Turner sold his 1740 patent, containing 1825 acres to Col. Thomas Marshall. Lafayette's visit - He was conducted by teh Committee of Arrangements to elegant rooms at Mrs. Norris' Tavern where with many Revoluntionary Officers and soldiers, he partook of refreshments...Col. Randolph presided, assied by Wm Payne, Francis Brooke, Thos. Moore, Thos. Turner and Thos. Marshall, Esqrs.. as Vice Presidents. 1834 meeting held in Salem to protest removal of US funds from Bank of US by President Jackson, Major Thomas Turner appointed chairman.
