One more and then I will go back to lurking in the shadows, watching the Turner list. A Jacob Turney SR. who ended up in Boone County, Arkansas, his family was from Smith/DeKalb Co TN. All of his brothers were in the War of 1812, so we looked for his records. Could not find anything, but then we found where he applied for a pension. He was first rejected, he applied again, his records were finally found but he died just before that. Anyway, when we sent for his records, we knew the unit. Came back no such person. One of his dec. finally found the records, and they were filed under Jacob TURNER. One the outside of the records the name was written as TURNER. So even that late - ca 1815, mistakes were being made in the names. Mary Turney Miller hlm@qtm.net
