    1. [TURNER] TURNER: Nova Scotia
    2. M Arnold
    3. Hi! I'm new to the list and would be interested in communicating with those that have TURNERS in Nova Scotia, particularly around the 1820-60 time frame. This is one of my "dead-end" lines, and I'm not sure where to turn. John BOWEN (b. New York) m. Jane TURNER (b. Nova Scotia). They had at least two children: 1. Jane ("Jennie") BOWEN, b. Nov 8, 1855 (to 1865, depending on when she gives this information! -- 1865 is more likely), Nova Scotia. [New Glasgow?]. Emigrated to the U.S. in 1876 (1920 U.S. Census). Married 1878, Cambridge, Mass., to Henry Raymond TUCKER, b. 1839, Lenox, Berkshire, Mass. (Marriage Certificate). They lived in Dorchester, Everett, Malden, and Reading, Mass. and had seven children: Henry Raymond, William Samuel, Lydia, Annie, Joseph, Newton, Mary and Helen. Have much info on the Tucker ancestors and descendents, to present. 2. Annie BOWEN. Died 1890s, buried in the Laurel Hill Cemetery, Reading, Mass., in the grave site of Henry & Jennie (Bowen) Tucker, above. I believe that the family of John & Jane (TURNER) Bowen came to the U.S. from Nova Scotia in 1876, and that daughter Jennie was 11. The BOWENs may have been living in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia in 1855-65, when daughter Jennie was born, as in the 1930s, an adult child, trying to get Henry's Civil War widow's pension for Jennie, received a response from the Town Hall of New Glasgow, stating that they did not keep birth records in this time period. (Conflicting info: Jennie's marriage certificate says she was b. Halifax?, but then again it also said she was 23 and Henry 35, when I KNOW he was 39 and think she was 13 and pregnant, and suspect there were trying to hide that fact.) With that information (or lack, thereof!) I'm not sure where else to turn. I'm left with many more questions than answers, and I would welcome any suggestions from others on the list, or from others researching TURNERs in Nova Scotia. Thank you!
