Stephanie reminds me it about time I resubmitted mine. The 1881 Oxon census of England on 04apr1881 shows a young family at High St in Kidlington Oxon. William Turner is listed as a 33yo retired farmer, b in Stretton Warwick, with his 33yo wife Julia J, b in Brackley Ntha, their five eldest chn (below), and 59yo Eleanor M Smith (Julia Joanna's widowed ma). * Maud M 6yo dau *Bleschington * Florence F 5yo dau *Tackley Oxon * Laura L 3yo dau *Tackley Oxon * Walter W 1yo son *Bleschington * Julia J 2mo dau *Kidlington Oxon Julia Jeannetta ('Neta') = Sydney Whillans, both emigrating to Australia in 1923, to later become my grandparents. William was a manager within some large coal concern at Oxon about 1920. He used to walk with bowler-hat and walking-stick, and occasionally gave his gson Eric a florin coin (20 cents) for good behaviour. The Turner home over the decade prior to 1923 was at 225 Banbury Road in Oxford at Headington, about 3 to 5 km north of Oxford's Woodstock Road intersection. Attempts to discover more about this family have been unsuccessful for several years.
