Claud Perry TURNER. 298. Orville Hume TURNER was born on 23 Nov 1872 in Hallsville, Boone County, Missouri.72 He died on 7 May 1954 in Columbia, Missouri. OBITUARY: Columbia Daily Tribune, Friday, May 7, 1954: Orville Hume Turner dies here this morning. An 1899 graduate of the University died unexpectedly at 11:30 o'clock this morning at his home, 601 N 7th. Mr. Turner was born near Hallsville on Nov. 23, 1872 to James Perry Turner and Mary Olivia Sturgeon. He married Ida Olive Shipe on May 31, 1899. She preceded him in death Nov. 1941. He married Mrs. Beulah B. Hawkins on Sept 9, 1942. Survivors, besides the widow include, a son Joe T. Turner of University City, 3 grandchildren, 3 brothers: Alonzo T of Chula Vista, CA, Dr. George L T of Pacific Palisades, CA and Claude P T of Auxvasse. 3 sisters Mrs. Mary D Cox of Centralia, Mrs. Joe Brown of Rocheport and Mrs. Orme McCammon 813 Clinkscale Rd. He was one of 11 children, 2 died in infancy, a sister died at age 7 and another brother Dr. John W T died in 1926. Mr. Turner was a member of Tau Beta Pi honorary Engineer Fraternity. The Kappa Sigma Social Frat. and the First Baptist Church. He was employed by David Ranken Jr. School of Mechanical Trades in St. Louis for 23 years as administrator and instructor. He retired from school work and returned here in 1936. He was buried in Columbia Cemetery. In 1941, he was living in Columbia, Missouri. He was married to Ida Olive SHIPE (daughter of Unknown SHIPE and Ella THORNTON) on 31 May 1899. Ida Olive SHIPE was born on 15 Oct 1876. She died in Nov 1941. John William TURNER was born on 9 Aug 1877 in Hallsville, Boone County, Missouri.78 He died on 11 Dec 1926 in Louisiana, Missouri. He was buried on 12 Dec 1926. Physician, surgeon. Baptist. Spanish American War veteran, World War Iveteran. OBITUARY: Centralia Fireside Guard, Friday, Dec. 17, 1926, Page 1: Dr. John W. Turner died at his residence in Louisiana, MO, Saturday, December 11, 1926 of heart trouble. Aged 49 years, four months and two days. Dr. Turner was born and reared on a farm six miles south and one mile west of Centralia, the son of J.P. and Olivia Turner. He grew to young manhood in this section, graduating from Centralia High School, the Missouri University and from medical schools. Last year he attended an advanced school in New Jersey. At the time of his death he was one of the leading physicians in Louisiana. During the World War he attained the rank of major in the American Army, but was not sent overseas. He was for ten years in the military service of the United States Army in the medical corps, serving during the Spanish-American War. The disease which caused his death was contracted while in service during the World War. Dr. Turner was married to Miss Grace Henry of Glasgow. One son, John Jr., blessed this union. He is survived by the wife and son, by his mother, Mrs. Olivia Turner of Columbia and the following sisters and brothers: Miss Navy Turner, Mrs. Orme McCammon of Columbia; Alonzo Turner of Chula Vista, CA; Dr. George L. Turner of Wichita, Kansas; O.H. Turner of St. Louis; C.P. Turner and Mrs. W. M. Cox of this place and by a host of other relatives and friends, who mourn his untimely death. All of the immediate family, brothers and sisters were at his bedside when he passed away. Deceased was a member of the Baptist Church and of the Masonic Lodge, Eastern Star, Woodmen of the World, American Legion and of the Pike County Medical Society. Dr. Turner is kindly remembered by Centralia friends as a man of rare good qualities of head and heart and his death will be learned with sadness by many friends and schoolmates. Funeral services were conducted from the family residence in Louisiana at 2:30 Sunday afternoon. Interrment in the cemetery at that place, Dr. C.P. Foreman, pastor of the Presbyterian Church, who spoke feelingly of the sacrificial devotion of Dr. Turner, was a friend of the deceased. He was married to Grace HENRY on 10 Oct 1899. Cox, 80, died at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the Campbell Nursing home. She had been a patient there for several months and had been in failing health for several years. The former Miss Mary Delia Turner, she was born on January 3, 1880 near Hallsville, the daughter of James Perry and Mary Sturgeon Turner. She was married on February 1, 1898 to Mr. William M. Cox who died in November, 1957. Survivors include one son, Turner B. Cox of Centralia, two sisters, Mrs. Orme McCammon of 813 Clinkscales Road, Columbia, and Mrs. Joe C. Brown of Columbia, two brothers, Alonzo Turner of Chula Vista, Calif., and Claude Turner of Auxvasse. Funeral Services were held at 2 o'clock this afternoon at the Ballew Funeral chapel with the Rev. W.K. Herod officiating, assisted by the Rev. Ceil Bradford with burial in the Centralia cemetery. She was married to William Monroe COX (son of Barton COX and Paralee SHELTON) on 1 Feb 1898. McCammon, 90, who died Saturday at Boone County Hospital after a long illness. Mrs. McCammon was born near Sturgeon in December 1885, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Turner. She was married to Orme McCammon in 1903. He died in 1967. Mrs. McCammon was a member of the First Christian Church. She is survived by her sister, Mrs. Navy Brown, Centralia; a son, Arthur LeRoy, Sun City, Calif; four grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. A daughter preceded her in death. The Rev. Sam Langley, minister of the First Christian Church, will conduct the service. She was married to Orme MCCAMMON (son of John Wesly MCCANNON and Alice GAY) on 7 Nov 1905. OBITUARY: From Columbia Daily Tribune: Navy T. Brown, 94, of Centralia died Tuesday, Jan 31, 1984 at Campbell House where she had resided since June 1975. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at William Wood Funeral Home in Boonville with the Rev. Glenn Mitchell officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Columbia. Friends may call at the funeral home until time for services. Mrs. Brown was born May 13, 1889, in Boone County to Perry and Olivia Sturgeon Turner. She married Joseph Charles Brown Dec. 23, 1931, and he preceded her in death Oct. 15, 1958. She lived in the Centralia, Rocheport and New Franklin areas for many years. Survivors include two nieces, Mrs. Turner (Margaret) Cox of Centralia and Mrs. Fay Hinton of Martinsburg. She was preceded in death by five brothers and two sisters. She was buried on 2 Feb 1984 in Memorial Park Cemetery, Columbia, MO. In 1941, she was living in Stephens, Missouri. In 1954, she was living in Rocheport, Missouri according to O.H. Turner's obituary. She was married to Joseph Charles BROWN (son of William BROWN and Margaret Catherine CURRY) on 23 Dec 1921. Joseph Charles BROWN was born on 19 Jan 1880.
