It occurs to me that it has been a long time since I have posted my Turner information to this list. The wonderfully successful match that Rose Adams and I made yesterday reminds me that it may be time to post this information again. Rather than make this an impossibly long message I am going to post each generation in a separate message. Generation 1 William Turner William's parentage continues to elude us. It is 99% certain that he is not the William Turner son of Terisha Turner and Sarah Wimpey that is listed in the DAR records. (Terisha and Sarah Wimpey Turner are my husband's direct ancestors) William was born speculatively between 1738-1750. It is possible he had a brother, Zachariah, who died during the Rev. War while serving on the ship "Phantom" The first we pick him up with certainty is in 1790 in Franklin Co, GA on the tax list. There is a William Turner in Granville Co, NC as early as 1778 or earlier that appears to be the correct person and living in the area of collateral lines. It is possible that he, at one time lived in the northern part of Laurens Co, SC before moving to Franklin Co, GA William was described as "of Roane Co, TN" in a land deed in Franklin Co, GA on 2 Feb 1809, directing his son Nathan to sell his land. His death place and date are unknown to us, although family legend states that he died in Roane Co, TN cir 1828. William Turner married Sarah "Sally" Denney, daughter of Zachariah and Mary Denney. Her birth and death info are also unclear. Children: 1. Elizabeth "Betsey"; b. cir 1782; m. Abner Casey, thought to be the son of Aaron Casey; children: Turner Franklin Casey, Jesse Casey, perhaps others 2. Polly; m. Ruben Kelly 3. Pricilla "Rissie"; m. John Acord 1819 Roane Co, TN; children: Calvin, Cornelius C., William G., John Columbus, Francis Marion 5. Susan; b. cir 1782 (census records state she was born in SC); m. James Casey 6. Nathan; b. 21 Feb 1780; d. 1 Mar 1840 Roane Co, TN; m. Elizabeth Hicks; 7. Zachariah; b. cir 1765; m. Mary Casey 1783; probably the Zachariah living in Bedford Co, TN that had 13 children 8. Anna; b. cir 1786 probably SC; m. John Casey cir 1802 probably Franklin Co, GA; living in Polk Co, MO as a widow in 1870; children: Jane, Levi; Hettie; Keziah; John Allen, Elizabeth Ann, Frances Mariah, Mary Ann, Clarissa B., Susanne E., Sarah. 9.
