I am searching for information on Lemarcus (or LeMarquis) Turner and his parents. He lived in Greene County, Alabama, in the 1820s & 1830s.
Sheryl (and anyone else with Texas ancestors), This is a great site where you can retrieve online actual downloaded digital images of actual documents. Please try many various misspellings to find all documents. http://www2.tsl.state.tx.us/trail/RepublicSearch.jsp I've come across a lot on this site for your ancestors while searching for mine. It says put in search criteria as "last name, first name" but it doesn't work that way. If you put in "Turner, Winslow" you are going to get all Turners regardless. Try putting in as the only search criteria "Winslow". Also, were you aware of military service in Louisiana by Winslow Turner and family? I found the records recently while searching LA records. I can't remember how I found those records. Wasn't it Winslow Turner Jr who died in the Runaway Scrape while trying to move his family to safety? Malkijah Williams also spelled Malkyah and referred to as "Lige" Williams in some accounts arrived in the DeWitt Colony on 1 Aug 1830 as a single man and received title to a quarter sitio on 20 Nov 1831 according to colony land records. William's tract was on the west bank of the Lavaca River on the current border of Lavaca and Jackson counties and except for that of John Jones, the southernmost grant in the DeWitt Colony. The record of his marriage to Cynthia Ann Burns in 1837 is among the earliest marriage records in current JacksonCo archives (Malkyah Williams and Cynthis Ann Burns). Carol, Sorry for the confusion, but I just wrote out the history the way I found it. I wanted to avoid adding my own opinions. My guess is that Rev. Wm. Donald: I have Family Tree Maker as do a number of people in my local Genealogy Society. Several have done their books using this program and they turn out beautifully. Good Luck Jan in FL.
To the list I have spent a good part of the last 12 years looking into my family history.(Turner and Albright) I have hit several brick walls and think I should put every thing I have on the family into some type of book and give it to the family members. What I would like is for a few people that have done that to tell me what software did they think is the best. You can a-mail me directly and that way not make everyone on line have to delete it. Many thanks in advance Donald Turner address dturner8@hotrr.com

I am quite interested in your post about William Turner but the dates don't seem to jibe. You say he was born in 1645 and emigrated to Maryland in 1741. That just doesn't seem possible. Maybe someone can help me distinguish between two Richard P. Turners of Abama 1st Richard Presley Turner of Cleburne Co. Al. 2nd Richard "Preston" Turner who is registered on the Rolls I think on the Guion Miller Roll and gives place of residence as "Al" Could there possibly be an error and they are one and the same man Or Are they, indeed, 2 different men? I`ll be checking some sources but will certainly appreciate some input. Lori

I am researching the following history. Rev. William Turner, a minister of the Presbyterian Church, was born 1645 in Aberdeenshire, Scotland. About the year 1680 he removed to the North of Ireland on account of religious persecution. Persecution followed him there. In 1741 he obtained a ship and led a party of emigrants to Maryland and settled in Worcester Co. His wife was Mary McLemore. Wm. & Mary Turner had the following children (born between 1671 and 1681): William Elisha Mary Ebenezer John (1) John (2) Gertrude - married John Walker Thomas Elisha married Elizabeth Hicks and they had the following children: Philip Elisha, Jr. Mary William Elizabeth Henry Ebenezer John Elisha, Jr. married Mary Carroll and their children were: Thomas Ebenezer Elizabeth Henrietta John Zadock b. 1729, Worcester Co., MD Levin Daniel William Zadock, Sr. married Sabra Hicks and their children were: Henry Joshua Zadock, Jr. Mary Philip Zadock, Sr. and his 2nd wife, Mary Ann Blizzard had: Elizabeth Sabra Thomas Easter Hezekiah So far, I have looked all over the Eastern Shore of Maryland and Virginia for clues to these people. Zadock, Sr. is a well documented veteran of the Revolutionary War and I have a photograph of his tombstone in a cemetery in Sparta, GA. I have also done some research in Scotland and found a record of a William Turner who matriculated at Marischal College, Aberdeen. The trouble is in tying the two ends together. I intend to go to Ireland in August to find the missing links. If anyone has advice on where to look in Ireland or in the U.S., I would appreciate the help. Sincerely, Phil Turner

Bev, In answer to your query: Time to try this again, sigh. John Turner bn abt 1793 in KY, m. Jane Odell. I have heard that John was in ILL for a while. Does anyone have any idea where in KY he might have been born or to whom??? Bev Try checking into records from Hickman County, Kentucky. I am searching for my Great Grandfather, Frank A. Turner, who lived in Hickman County, Kentucky ... was married to Lizzie Watts ... and my Grandfather, Benjamin James Arthur Turner was born there in 1896. Frank also lived in ILL for a while. May have even been born there. Joyce Turner Watts VCI WebMail http://www.vci.net
