Debra, This isn't my own family--just that of one of our new Turner DNA Members who descends from Allen Turner who married Melvina Beard. I think that she is probably the Melvina Beard in the household of Welcome Beard who is on the 1850 Census of Pontotoc Co. MS. I think he was the same one who was on the 1840 Census in Itawamba Co. MS. He was next door to a Richard Beard in 1850 Pontotoc Co. MS and there was also a Richard Beard in 1840 in Itawamba Co. MS. Both Welcome Beard (census sometimes was Bierd) and Richard were listed as born in TN. Welcome Beard was born about 1808-1809 (age 41 in 1850) and Richard was born about 1804 (age 46 in 1850). Beyond that, I haven't researched this line. There is a Rootsweb Family Tree which lists this Welcome Beard as a son of George Baird (b. c 1777). But, that same person posting the tree didn't list a son of George named Richard. Spouse for Welcome Beard is listed as Jane Gincey. In 1850, Welcome Beard's wife was named Jane. The RFT does list a daughter Melvina and other children which match those listed in the 1850 Census. Melvina was 20 years old on the 1850 Census. The tree lists nothing more on Melvina. The marriage record for her to Allen Turner in 1851 is recorded in marriage records of Pontotoc Co. MS. In 1900, she reported her birth as January 1831. Don't know if this helps you or not. Interesting discovery. I just located the family of this William A. Turner (born about 1820 in SC) in 1870 Census and he has moved to Lafayette Co., MS (Lafayette Springs). This is the same place that Allen Turner and wife Melvina Beard Turner moved to by 1880 from Pontotoc Co. (1870). 1870 Census, Lafayette Co. MS, P. O. He appears to be enumerated as: 1870 Census, Lee Co. MS (Lee County was formed in 1866 from parts of Itawamba and Pontotoc Counties) District 5 (image 20/105 on Ancestry.com) P. O. I would invite Bailis Earle Turner AND both his wives, Elizabeth and Eleanor Darnell. I would like to know where he was born, Greenville Co. or Spartenburg Co., SC (or somewhere else) Who were his parents and who was his father in law and what was his mother in law's maiden name. That is just for starters! What I have is that he was born 12 Nov 1804 in Spartanburg Co., SC and died 1899 in Union County, GA. He married Elizabeth Darnell in 1829 in SC. Most of his children are listed as being born in either NC or GA. Lynda Fitch -- No virus found in this outgoing message. Checked by AVG Free Edition. I have the following Turner's in the 1850 Census of Tishomingo Co., MS. I am told that they lived in Eastport: John Turner 55 SC., Nancy 27 VA., (That is defently an error) (it must have been 57) Lucinda 28 LA. (which has been proven right) William (WM) 21 TN; Richard 17 TN; Nancy 14 TN Alfred 11 TN Louisa 8 MS; (Cynthia/Synthia Louise Turner) Alderson 7 MS (spelling wrong)(should have been Alderina/Alderiny / Aldereany Albert 5 MS. John Turner was also on the 1840 Census of Tishomingo Co., MS. Harold

Would anyone know about William A Turner? There are 3 unconnected Turners in GA with identical DNA/37. One goes back to Absalom, one to Henry one to Lewis. I am gonna try again, sigh. I have John Turner bn 1793 in KY somewhere, don't you all love the somewhere's??. John Turner m. Jane Odell who was bn 1797 in Cocke Co., TN; the daughter of Issac and Abigail Odell. Those researching this family have been able to document to this point and into the future. But we cannot get back farther than John. John and Jane had the following children in Ray/Clay Co's. James J. ; Littleton; Nancy "Sally" Odell Turner; Ellen; Thomas; Joshua; Martha; John; Joseph; and Artema. One thought the name Artema seems to have some significance (sp) becuase the name Artema goes down the line of Nancy a couple of generation. Bev
