    1. Re: [TURNER] Thanksgiving Dinner-Squire Turner and others
    2. My Turners were in Clark County, KY. when Clark Co. was formed from Bourbon County in 1792. Joseph Turner bought 200 acres of land that was located in Bourbon County before Clark was formed. When Montgomery County was formed from a part of Clark County the Turners were living in Montgomery County. Joseph's son, William Turner, married Sarah Pointer in 1794 Clark Co. and had children shown by census records that I have no record of their names. There was a Patience Turner, of Montgomery County and daughter of a William Turner, who married John Goodpaster. There were so many Turner families living in central and eastern KY. that I believe DNA is the only way to get these Turners sorted out. Three descendants of this Joseph Turner have had their DNA tested and recorded on the Turner DNA site and although they live in different states they have positive proof of their Turner line.

    3. I would invite many Turners from different generations. It seems that I have several "dangling" Turners, but I'm sure that someone can help me put them together. They are: 1) Squire Turner who was born about 1793, married Elizabeth Stone, and lived in Clark Co. KY. He had a daughter, Mary Ann born 1828, who married Thomas Jefferson Hood. The note from Ree6e (11-11-06) interested me because of Clark Co. KY as well as a child of Joseph Turner with the name Sudduth David Turner. T.J. Hood's great grandfather, Maj. Andrew Hood married a Massa Sudduth and lived in Clark Co. so there may have been family connections for some time. I suspect that the Turners came to Clark Co. nearer to about 1810. Any ideas? 2) John Turner and his sister Mary who married Benedict Arnold (b. 1640/41). Who do these Turners belong to? 3) Could this John Turner be the John Turner (b abt 1645) who married Elizabeth Lightfoot (dau. of John Lightfoot and Elizabeth Phillips)? 4) Who is Mary Turner who married abt 1685 Edward Harris probably in Isle of Wight? 5) Who is Mildred Turner who married James Leavell and had a daughter Zuilda (Zerelda?) born 1814? 6) Who is Pass Turner who marries Ann Fulgham (dau. of John Fulgham and Mary Purcell)? 7) How about Thomas Turner who married Martha Joyner in about 1719? and lastly I would invite, 8) William Turner who married Katherine Denson and had the following children: Joshua, William, and Sarah? If any of you can help me identify these Turners, I'll have one of the best Thanksgivings ever. Thank you!!! Sage

    3. Suddeth ancestors are in the line of the Turners who arrived in TEXAS to fight the Texas Revolution. They lived in Gonzales, TX or Gonzales Co, TX but were VERY active in military history in Texas. Somewhat of Texas heroes. They also lived around Jane Bowen, married name Jane Hardin, and family while her husband John Wesley Hardin (infamous gunfighter) was in prison. If these Texas military Turners are yours there are a lot of documents on file for the Texas archives on their military service. 3. Carolee, This guy would be a fantstic guest. Here's what I have on him. I'm happy to share what I have on his descendants. Regards, Charles Individual Narrative of Consider Turner (249) Consider Turner (249) had Pension # Wt. 5155, Service #158042 (?). When the army was throwing up breastworks at Roxbury, they struck upon the bones of an Indian burying ground. General Heath said as he passed by, "let those men lie, we have soldiers enough." "But, (said Turner) if your honor pleases, we want officers." In 1777 he was taken prisoner by Burgoyne, at Ticonderoga, and was kept in the camp until the surrender. We have been informed by a fellow soldier of his, that he used to afford infinite amusement to the officers, and that the General once said to him, "I shan't exchange you, Turner; I shall carry you home; the king wants a fool." When Bourgoyne marched out with his army and surrendered, Turner took occassion to pass near the General and say, "we shan't exchange your Honor, the people want a fool." from Family Sketches, p.362 "Ebenezer Tolman and Consider Turner, sodliers in Col. Marshall Regt. in Capt Nathaniel Winslow's Company, are permitted to pass the Guards from this to Still Water." 26 Sep 1777 from Soldiers, Sailors, and Patriots of the Rev. War - Vermont by Major and Sue Fisher Picton Press, ME. He was born in 1745. He was baptized on 10 Dec 1751 at Scituate, MA. He began military service in 1775 had considerable service in Revolution 1775-1783. He ended military service in 1783. He married Mary Brown (526) on 11 Mar 1784 at Scituate, Plymouth, MA. 3. According to Census...Henry was born in VA....moved to GA and remained there...his wife...Lucinda Waddle...was also from VA...I have not been able to find any trace of either one of them before 1830..when they got married... I have all the info from 1830...to present... State lines have changed through the years....so that is the reason I am asking about KY...TN...grasping at ALL straws... After the Civil War...hundreds of familys...the family scattered...some in AL...some...TX...some stayed in GA... Can not seem to find ANY info on Henry....Was he born in VA? NC...SC... who his parents were...where were all his siblings...was he disowned by his family... But...then what about his wife...can not find anything on her either...so...?? Henry is supposed to have been born 1805-1808 in VA. Thanks for the interest! I would like to have her come & tell me how she met her husband, George Stalker/Stocker....did he come to where she lived or did she go to where he lived, because I really really would like to know how she got from VA where she was born in 1799 to Wasington Co. in southern IN where she & George were married in 1818. Was she related to any Turners in or near where she was married? Were her children, Miles & Charity, named after her parents? Did one or both of her parents die & she lived with a relative of a different surname? I've got theories galore & no data! Please, Polly, visit me in a dream or somethin', will Ya? 3. Many of you may have seen my guest list from last year, but hopefully we have some new members so here it is again. I hope each of you will have a blessing Thanksgiving. Joy Fincher Atkinson I would invite my 4x Great Grandfather Robert Turner born about 1739 and his wife Rosannah McCarter Turner born about 1744. They would be surprised to see how much York County, SC has changed from when they lived here. I'd show them the very nice new headstone one of their descendants bought for them and how much their church, Bethel Presbyterian, has grown. Of course I'd ask all the usual questions like who were your siblings, parents, grandparents, etc. but mostly I would want them to tell me stories about their family. Stories about their ancestors and their descendants. The stories make my ancestors come alive. I can almost picture them in my mind.....Robert laying down his blacksmith hammer and going to Kings Mountain, NC to fight the British and Rosannah going with him to help tend the wounded. I would ask them to write down the names and birthdates of their children, George, John, Christopher, William, Robert, Ann, Elizabeth and Sarah and their grandchildren and then I'd ask them to sign it in front of a notary so I could join the Daughters of the American Revolution. (I'm missing proof for George's son Robert.) I'd have a photographer on hand to take their pictures and a sketch artist there too so they could describe their parents, children, grandchildren. I'd ask them to show me where they lived and where their children lived. Then so it wouldn't all be one sided, while they ate I'd tell them stories about their gggg grandchildren and show them pictures. I would try my best to make them as proud of us as we are of them. Hummm, sounds looks like we might would need all weekend not just Thanksgiving Day. Thank you for this opportunity, I've had a lot of fun writing it. 1. Re: [TURNER] Who are this Turners parents?
    2. Your Joseph Turner Sr. died about November 1800 in Montgomery County, KY. Joseph Jr. died in Adair County, KY. Records of the administration of Joseph Sr's estate are located in Montgomery Co., KY. The administrator was William Turner, his oldest son. Sarah Parsons was Joseph Turner Sr's second wife. She married William Smith after the death of Joseph Sr. Joseph and Sarah Parsons had four children. 1. George Turner b. July 31, 1791, d. Abt. 1852 Montgomery Co., KY. 2. Sudduth David Turner b. June 19, 1793 Clark County, KY. d. 1855 Franklin Co., AK. 3. James W. Turner b. October 15 1795 Clark Co., KY d. Sept. 15, 1872 Johnson Co., KY. 4. Phoebe Turner b. Nov. 24, 1798 Montgomery Co., KY. d. June 18, 1851. Joseph Turner Sr. had four children before marrying Sarah Parsons. I don't know of anyone who knows the name of their mother. 1. William Turner married Sarah Pointer, daughter of Thomas Pointer, May 1794 Clark Co., KY. 2. Thomas Turner b. 1775. d. 1853 Adair Co., KY. m. Nancy Hannah Myers Clark Co., KY. 3. Joseph Jr. Turner b. 3. Lynda, Please please find a male Turner descended from Bailus/Bailis Earle Turner to join our Turner DNA Project. We have the DNA signature documented for almost all the lines of Turners that were in Spartanburg and Greenville Co., SC at the time frame that Bailus Earle Turner was born. It could be a huge break through for your line (that I know people have been stumped on for ages) if you would do that and determine if is related to one of the other lines. This really does work. My own Turners are from Spartanburg Co. and I've researched those Turners for over 20 years. I've also done very very extensive research on the Greenville Co. SC Turners. We have been able to separate out the ones that are related and those that are not related. We have one group we are not positive we have documented and that is the line of Sion/Zion/Cion Turner who was born in Granville Co. NC and moved to Greenville Co. in 1798. We may have it but just can't know for sure because we have a paper trail that is missing a solid link to him. I'm going to write you personally but I know there are probably others who monitor the list who also descend from Bailus. This would be a way that you could almost ask Bailus in person what group of Turners he belongs to. The cost is truly not that much when you consider what you stand to gain from having someone do the test from your line. I think of all the years people have researched (and some spend a lot of money to do that research) and still don't have an answer and then are presented a chance to break through the wall and I really have difficulty understanding why someone is so reluctant to do this. Think seriously about it. Gail R. Blancett Administrator Turner DNA Project Lynda Fitch wrote: >I would invite Bailis Earle Turner AND both his wives, Elizabeth and Eleanor >Darnell. I would like to know where he was born, Greenville Co. or >Spartenburg Co., SC (or somewhere else) Who were his parents and who was his >father in law and what was his mother in law's maiden name.
