    3. Dale, I think Phillip Turner who posts frequently to this list is of the line your are interested in. Also, Paul Tilley. Not sure Paul watches this list though. Phillip, want to respond to Dale and tell him how to reach your data base? We know that the big group of Turners in Charles/St. Mary's County, MD is not related to the Somerset/Worcester Co. MD group of Turners because their DNA does not match. The Somerset/Worcester Co. MD group is part of our large Group 2 (Salmon colored on our chart) family. The Charles Co./St. Mary's County Turners are part of our Group 12 (Olive colored on our chart) family. http://freepages.rootsweb.com/~turnerdna/ Click on word "Results" on left of screen for chart. 3. For Joe Morris, I have been trying to send you additional info on the Edward Turner line of Charles and St Marys Counties, MD, but the Rootsweb server rejects my message because the file is too big. The file shows most of his descendants for 3 or 4 generations. If you, or anyone else, would like the data, please email me directly, not through Rootsweb. 1. [TURNER] Aha.....more info on James & Patty Turner
    2. Source: Franklin Co., VA Court Order Book 2 [1789-1793], April 1791, p. 128. A deed from Turners Legatees to Thomas Hale acknowledged & ELENDER the wife of JOHN TURNER & MARY the wife of WM. CREASY & BATHSHEBA wife to THOMAS OVERSTREET & ELIZ'A [Elizabeth] wife of WM. TURNER and MARY the wife of JAMES TURNER & JANEY the wife of KINSEY COTES. The wives were privately examined and relinquished their rights. It was ordered that the deed be recorded. Although this does not help me find my Admire Turner...it does answer some other questions. The above named Turner legatees must be the children of a previous marriage...and it would have to have been prior to 1784 for this many children to be married. Jonas chose William Turner as his guardian and evidently, William was his older brother. Thomas Hale made bond in Feb 1791 as the guardian of the 4 orphans of James Turner...namely Jesse, Patty, Admire and Delilah. These must be the widow Patty's children. Brenda Carroll

    1. Re: [TURNER] James Turner died 1789 in VA
    2. Russ...all of this is new to me. I just finished the probate records that I have and I think it is not a complete record. There are no settlements for Jesse, Admire or Delilah Turner in these papers. Of course, other explanations could be made. Admire is the one I'm trying to trace. BUT.....here is the last record that I have: Acct. of Thos Hale Guardian of P. Casey Examined...Will Bk 1, p. 226. At a court held for Franklin County at the Courthouse the 6th day of June 1803. Ordered that Stephen Smith, Fleming Saunders, Nathaniel H. Claiborne and Caleb Tate, or any three of them state, and settle, the account current of Thomas Hale with Patsey Casey daughter of James Turner deceased, who hath attained the age of twenty-one years and who was one of the Wards of the said Thomas Hale. 1803. July 1st. We have this day settled the account of Thomas Hale Guardian of the above Patty Casey late Patty Turner, and find the said Hale to owe said Patty Casey, the above balance of 29 pounds 4 shillings 11 pence. Given under our hands and Franklin Courthouse the date above. Ste. Smith Nathl H. Claiborne Caleb Tate The County Clerk was ordered to record settlement. So.....there must be a Polly and a Patsey/Patty Turner. Polly married William Creasy and Patsey/Patty married Thomas Casey. In 1796, the account was current with the administrix per recorded court order. At that time, William Creasey was paid as a legatee, along with Kinzey Coats and Thomas Overstreet. There was no mention of money paid to Thomas Hale as guardian of the 4 orphans of James Turner on that account....which I think is odd....especially with the 1803 settlement with Patsey/Patty Casey. Other than what is here...I have not found a Creasey/Turner married within the right timeframe. I have not found the Overstreet/Turner marriage either. I did find the Coats/Turner marriage. Now I think I'll look for the Casey/Turner marriage. If anyone has answers....please speak up and help me straighten this out. Does anyone have an Admire Turner who was b. ca 1780 in VA? 3. I have never been able to connect Wingate with any other TURNERs on the -List!!!! I have lurked and looked at many of the lines but I have no one line that even seems close to being related to him... I thought at one time the name was William, and just mis-spelled but he's listed in William HOLT's will as Wingate and what few census records I've found use Wingate as his name! I don't know what the "M" stands for either. :-( On Saturday, Jan 13, 2007, at 14:11 US/Eastern, Gail R. We have a lot of Turners who were in GA that have already documented their lines. This might provide a breakthrough for you. It would certainly help rule out a lot. I've been trying to jog my memory regarding Holts and Turner connections. I know I seem to have something vaguely in my memory and it connects to Hancock Co. 3. "Chronicles of Smith County, Texas",Summer1976,Vol.15,No.1, pp.73-75 gives the name of William HOLT's wife as Jane Turner! ....and that Abdon Alexander(whom the article is about) was born in Greene county, GA (now part of Hancock county?)!! So Greene county was right ..and they had moved to Troup county AFTER Abdon was born 7 Feb 1823. Wingate M. TURNER and family listed in the 1850 Fed.Census, AL, Barbour co, house#1034.: In "...the 1850 Barbour Co., AL census and found Asa A. Holt living in House #1033 with N.A. [INCORRECT,Initial is an"A"]Holt, 18 yr. old female born in GA; I.L.(Irby Lee) Holt, 20 yr. old male born in GA; and C.A. Holt 19 yr. old male born in GA, all in the same houesehold.  "Next door to them in House #1034 was a Wingate M. Turner, 49 yr. old male born in GA; Laura C. Turner, 42 yr. old female born in North Carolina; Charles A. Turner, 11 yr. old male born in GA; and Jane M. Holt(Jane Mariah, I think), 15 yr. old female born in GA.  Craig Kisabeth CKisabeth@hotmail.com    " from personal email Oct 2001.  The TURNERs and William HOLT families moved together to GA then settled in AL in Barbour county. I have never found who Laura's parents were; Where in NC she was born; Where Wingate was born in GA(so it sez) or who his parents were! None of the TURNER lines I have looked at online have a Wingate M. listed...except me!!!!! 1. Re: [TURNER] Fw: How do you give all of your the information to your family ?
    2. When I made up family books for our two sons, I chose leather 3 ring photo albums, removing the plastic pages. I printed out our history in individual family parts, inserted them into the albums with dividers between each family history. Each divider had a plastic tab into which I inserted the last name of the family. Made each family easy to find. I finished up by putting family pictures in the back and I was lucky enough to find several cartoons and poems on family history and genealogy to include in each book. I printed individual indexs for each family and inserted it into the front of that family section. I ended up by printing a complete index of all names. I also decorated some narrative pages with appropriate stick ons of states, flowers, birds etc. Our sons have really enjoyed learing something of their background. Barbara
