I have just posted the same information I tried to post to the Turner List and Turner DNA List to Turner GenForum as well as the Turner list on Ancestry.com's Turner surname on their community bulletin boards. See if you can access it there.

Was the long e-mail I posted with updates on our Turner DNA Project blank like mine was? List owner, is there an explanation? Gail R. Blancett, Administrator, Turner DNA Project Gail R. Gail, for some reason, my email was blank. Please resend. Thanks. Barbara ************************************** See what's free at http://www.aol.com.
Hi Diane, Many Huguenots from France settled in Westchester Co. Maybe you would like to subscribe to Huguenot-L or Huguenots- L? I used to subscribe to it in 1990s. Hi Jean, and thanks for the note. Indeed I have been on the Dutch-Colonies for eons now. A few months ago I did delve into the Tourneur/Turner families of Westchester and environs. There were Turners in the area my Isaac enlisted in War/1812. I have never posted the Turner family on that list, however. Never occurred to me but think I will do so. I am now seriously wondering if Isaac was, in fact, born in FR. His dau., Mathilda, was quite elderly when the article about her appeared in the Scranton papers, and she may have misspoken. I wish the census way back when had more info as there are numerous Isaac Turner's I'd like to find out more about. I joined the Dutch list trying to find the family for my Judith SLOAT/SLOT. I certainly learned a lot about that surname and do believe she is a part of it due to her given name, but cannot find a tie-in - yet! Dear Diane, Have you joined Dutch-Colonies-L? The list has many experts on emigrants. For sure, you will find many of them who know the Tourner / Tourneur family arriving in New York. Their descendnats spread to NJ and PA. Also New York Genealogical & Bibliographical Society and Records (NYGBR) and Holland Society have a wealth of information on emigrants. New York Public Library on the 5th Avenue in the mid-town Manhattan has random information on emigrants. This may be an odd request, but here goes: Tilman Turner, according to my records, was born about 1827 in Virginia. He's a son of John Turner and Sally Miles who were married in Bedford Co., VA 22 February 1808. Sally Miles is the daughter of Isham Johnson Miles who was born in Charles City Co., VA before 1748 and his wife Elizabeth Carter born before 1767 in Buckingham Co., VA. Isham Johnson Miles is the son of John Miles, Jr. who died before November 1750 in Charles City Co., VA and his wife Ann. Now the query: was the wife of John Miles, Jr. Ann Tilman? It's not unusual for a woman's maiden name to appear in one of her son's names and that name be carried on. Could this great-grandson be named for a great-grandmother? Thank you, Ron Brennan ************************************** See what's free at http://www.aol.com.

I can't tell the range and township but it was south of Provencal, north of Bellwood, west of Flora and east of Vowells Mill. I am not sure that it was a grant -- probably a homestead. My Turners are of the Natchitoches Parish area but I don't know these names. My Turners came to Louisiana in the the 1830's but his name was James Edward and I have no record of anyone else with him.
