Steve Jolley spoke of a Nelson Turner: His father was Nelson Turner who was born about 1808 in Rutherford Co., NC. I've looked at the Rutherford Co. census records for 1810 and 1800 and suspect that either Matthias or Samuel Turner, Jr. might be his father. I have long been looking for some Nelson Turners of my own. Mine was born about 1797 in Chesterfield, VA and I suspect had a son named Nelson sometime around 1830. There is some confusion in family records about wives that leads me to believe there were two. Nelson, b ca 1797, appears to be buried in Henderson co KY next to a woman named Mary Lee Winston, and marriage (and family) records show Nelson married an Amanda McKinney in KY, being buried in Marianna, AR! The dates show that the McKinney marriage took place 3 years before Mary Lee Winston died, therefore there must have been two Nelsons. (?) I believe there's a Nelson Turner line I still haven't found, and that he may have been involved in either the railroading, or timber industries, as were many of my other Turners of that time. Those Turner families were in NC, KY, AR round & about those times. Nelson is such an unusual name, I'm hoping someone will come up with some clues someday. Ring any bells? I would like to thank all those people who sent me messages re the virus warning. I do appreciate that you have taken the trouble to tell me that this was a hoax. Which I can not apologise enough for as I was not to know that there is some very sick people out there who take all the enjoyment out of the net. I would however like the very unpleasent worded messages now to stop. I would also like people to take a moment to think that yes there is some inexperienced people on the net let myself and little bit of help from expereinced people wouldn't go astray. If this message sounds angry well that is because I am. Thank you Jennie in New Zealand Who may unsubscribe

I am trying to find the parents and place of birth of my husbands gg grandfather Phillip Turner. Phillip was on the 1830, and 1840 Wayne County Penn. Census. His widow was on the 1850 Wayne Co. Pa. census. Her name was Nancy. I have not found her maiden name. They had a son born in New york, in 1829 His name was William. There was a Phillip Turner in Dutchess Co, N.Y. on the 1820 census./ I don't know if this is the same Turner. Phillip and Nancy had the following children William, John K. ( husband's great grandfather) George Benjamin , Amos, Carolyn, Lydia, Ira, and Elmira. Any info on this family would be greatly appreciated. Wadene Bennett (wadeneben@aol.com)
I finally made a connection on my gg-grandfather Richard C. Turner. He was born in Cleveland Co., NC about 1846. His father was Nelson Turner who was born about 1808 in Rutherford Co., NC. I've looked at the Rutherford Co. census records for 1810 and 1800 and suspect that either Matthias or Samuel Turner, Jr. might be his father. Their father was Samuel Turner, Sr. Does anyone have records of any of these people that might indicate if Nelson was connected to them? Steve J.

I need some help from TURNER descendants. I am interested in finding information on the TURNERS of Edgefield County and Old '96 District in South Carolina. Specifically, I would like information on William TURNER and Starling TURNER. Starling TURNER had a company of patriots who were executed by a group of Tories under Bloody Bill Cunningham on November 7, 1781 in what was called the Cloud Creek Massacre. Are these two TURNERS related? Who were their brothers and sisters? Thanks for your time. Francis C. Gill

Turner a Methodist minister and James. 1850 Census shows Jameees born in NC 1803 and he may be of a different family. This ends the comments from the Gone to GA book. Great reference but mixed as you can tell from above. One county, state flows into another. Stewart had a vast amount of knowledge about families that came through GA. Book is published by National Genealogical Society. ISBN # 0-915156-30-X. Good reference for all libraries with any type of genealogical material to have. Deana Dcost@compuserve. com
