    1. [TURNER-L] Zachariah Turner
    2. J A ROWLEY
    3. (sent to TURNER-L@rootsweb.com, scootie@freewwweb.com) Pam, in a message dated Sat, 28 Nov 1998 you asked: "Zachariah Turner and wife Mary-- had dau Anne Nancy b1785 who marr 1803 Monongalia Co VA to Michael Zinn. Does anyone know anything about Zach?" I sent a response on Nov 30 and it was to the Turner list and you but I don't think it ever got through so I'm sending this information again. Look forward to hearing from you. --------------------- Thanks for summarizing the replies you received. Your information on Zachariah definitely interested me. I'm also pursuing a Zachariah Turner, and who also married a Mary. You especially intrigued me when you mentioned Wm & Sally Denny Turner, as earlier this year I received some forwarded information that originated from Don (& Ann) Turner. I've included Don's information below. I've also included information from Bill Bryant* in a separate email. One of the pieces of information I've collected from a cousin is a Rev. War pension application. It almost seemed this might have been the Zachariah you described in your email except the application was in 1828, Preston County, VA (the Zachariah in your email d before 1815 but he did have some link to Preston Co, VA). The Rev War applicant Zachariah "signed" the application with his mark. Using Don's information, the dates for probable birth of Zachariah could fit the Zachariah I'm pursuing, and fits in the time frame of Zachariah being the father of Robert Whatley Turner, the ancestor of mine which I have fairly good information about. Our family tales have "our" Zachariah possibly going to Tennessee, and there is a Zachariah Turner in the 1812 tax list for Bedford County. Bedford Co is where his son Robert Whatley Turner, b 1793- 1799, is said to have married Nancy Hames in 1820 and then to gone to Alabama (I'm having trouble finding "the right" Robert in AL, though). There is a Zachariah in AL in the census for 1830, Marengo Co but he's only 20-29 years old, 2 young males <5, 1 female <5 and 1 female 20-29 -- so don't think this is the one I'm looking for but may be related. This AL Zachariah may or may not be the Zachariah who arrived in Texas in 1841, San Augustine Co. Since there was a Zachariah who sold land in AL, Marengo County, in 1836, with permission from his wife Ann (Jackson) Turner**, it may be the AL Zach who moved into Texas (while I was hoping it was "my" Zachariah). Then in 1847 there is some land sold by Zachariah Turner in Texas and this transaction is SIGNED rather than making a mark. I have a copy of this deed and there's nothing else relevant in the document. The Bedford Co, TN Zachariah COULD have gone to VA and died there in 1815 but with the connections to William and Nathan, from Don Turner's information, I'm hoping not. But where is he then? Seems these Zachariahs are kind of elusive and tend to marry Marys. * working with Don Turner's dates, Bill's information that Nathan was Zachariah's father won't work. ** Ann & Zachariah m Jan 10, 1826, though seems some question about the year, according to vital statistics records. Here's Don Turner's information: Generation No. 1 1. WILLIAM TURNER was born 30 Sep 1748,(1) and died 03 Sep 1834. He married SARAH "SALLY" DENNY 20 Aug 1770, daughter of UNKNOWN DENNY. 2. I have posted part of this before maybe someone will connect this time. Searching for the parents of John Webster Turner, Sarah Elizabeth Turner Reed and Emma Turner Johnson. Sarah Elizabeth Turner, born 9-24-1848,Maysville, KY, Died 5-2-1929, Petersburg, IL Emma Turner Johnson dob unknown, Living in Missouri in 1921 dod unknown John Webster Turner, born 4-1-1855 Petersburg, Ill, Died 4-1-1921 Brewster, KS Sarah's death record says parents A.C. and Rhoda Hill Turner. John Webster Turner's lists parents unknown. Can't find A.C. or Rhoda anywhere, searched Ky & IL census', found several minor Turner children living in Menard county IL and a John W. Turner living with Midian and Dorcus Burton who is the right age. No Sarah listed but an Emily age 7 listed in 1860 census living with Christopher Armstrong. I'm somewhat of a newbie at this if anyone out there has ideas or connections on any of this it's appreciated. The other minor children I found in 1860 were Enoch age 10living with Elias Atterberry, Joshua B. (13) living with Orestes Sampson. John R. (6) living with Samuel Rule. Don't know if any of this connects, if anyone out there can prove or disprove let me know. Dave Erickson

    2. Hi fellow Rooters - Searching for any information on my paternal grandmother Bessie Lee TURNER and her husband, my grandfather, Thomas A. PRICE - especially any information on their ancestors or possible siblings, and exactly where in Tennessee she was born. Thomas A. PRICE b. 26-Apr-1862 Russellville, Logan Co., KY d. 01-Mar-1943 Abilene, TX Bessie Lee TURNER b. 13-Oct-1864 Tennessee d. 23-Nov-1941 Abilene, TX They were married on 19-Sep-1883 in Sumner Co., TN. Thomas's Census listing shows my grandmother, Bessie, to have been born in Tennessee. Her death certificate did not show her father's name and only that her mother's maiden name was TRIBUE, but that name is so unusual I wonder if it could possibly be a misspelling or a variant of TRABUE, a French Huguenot family name. Have hit that well known brick wall on finding any information about either of their parents or siblings. As always, will appreciate any and all information and will be happy to share. John
