Thought I would post what I have found so far for Lee Turner and Carol Turner Green especially but also for the whole list. In a book entitled: Circus, A World History I found the following references to Turners. On page 72 Jules Turnour was spoken of as one of the greatest of clowns on the bill. This is the single information I found in any of the four books I've looked at. On page 53-54: Aaron Turner, a shoemaker of English descent, who taught his sons Napoleon B. and Timothy V. to make and build up a canvas enclosure and with one or two others, and considerable courage, set out on a tenting season. Aaron Turner did have his own circus and did not join up with anyone until Barnum. Aaron's circus was in the 1830's. The son's increased their performing repertoire-in addition to tumbling, rope-walking and contortion, did some fancy riding and vaulting. Their sister became equally versatile. She is not called by name in here though. Hope this is helpful to you. Happy hunting. DeeAnn Ludden Moore Descendant of Antoinette Turner.

These will probably be my last postings for awhile as I have exhausted my material/books from home. I have really given up on ever finding Jesse Turner, b. ca 1790, probably SC/NC - d. 1850 Hamilton Co, FL so I will be moving to search out other families until I can get back into GA/SC/NC/VA to look. Several summers ago I purchased the book Wayne County, KY census index and will report on Turners found there. I was looking for Jones and Wallaces in this area. 1810 John Turner p. 357, line 22 William Turner p. 372, line 24 1820 George Turner p. 88 James Turner p. 91 James Turner p. 91 John Turner p. 90 John Turner p. 92 John Turner p. 103 William Turner p. 89 1830 Turner, George p. 239 James p. 217 James p. 217 James p. 254 John p. 255 Thomas p. 252 1840 Turner, Barttel p. 153, line 9 James, Jr. p. 167, line 6 James, Sr. p. 166, line 28 John p. 147, line 13 Polly p. 171, line 28 William C. p. 155, line 26 1850 Turner, Elisha W. p. 621, line 7 James p. 581, line 17 William p. 496, line 8 1860 Turner, Emerson S. p. 409, line 27 Herrod V. p. 275, line 13 James p. 390, line 19 Wiley p. 368, line 16 (this is a name I saw earlier in Isle of Wight, VA) William C. p. 363, line 22 1870 Turner, Emerson p. 6 George W. p. 6 Wiley p. 3 William p. 4 1880 Turner, Andrew J. p. 537 Carrol p. 500 Emerson p. 500 John W. p. 496 V. p. 470 Wiley p. 498 William p. 505 Found through the index o A Century of Wayne County, Kentucky, 1800-1900 by Augusta Phillips Johnson Two Turners are listed James Turner - p. 7 - Under Act of 1832, James Turner applied for Rev. soldier pension from Wayne County, KY. New to list Does anyone have a Mary Annie Belle Turner, born 23 Oct. 1879 in Hardin County, TN. She married James Alexander Cook (Jim) on August 18, 1895. She died on June 30, 1912, and is buried in Pisgah Cemetary in Hardin County, TN. Her husband remarried and when he died he was buried in Calhoun County, MS. After her death, he married again to Annie Sowell and moved to Banner, Calhoun Co., MS. The children of Mary Turner Cook and Jim Cook were: 1. Herbert Cook 2. Baby Boy Cook 3. Elnara Cook 4. Mattie Ophelia Cook 5. Jimmie Martin Cook 6. Winfred Sutton Cook 7. Minnie Annie Belle Cook (died at 2 years old) 8. Baby Boy Cook 9. Baby Boy Cook (some of the above may be of the second wife, but I do know that #6 was from Mary Turner Cook) My grandmother has a LARGE portrait of her so they seem to have been either quite well off for the time or had a cheap photographer. They were a farming family in both Tennessee and Mississippi. I also know that my great grandfather, one of the children, was born in McNairy County, TN, so they might have moved there after marriage. She was part Indian, but I don't know for sure who her parents were. Two possible suspects are buried in the same cemetary as she and have birth and death dates that make them her possible parents. They are: Eriah S. (b. 1-11-1848 and d. 12-16-1932) Mercia J. (b. 2-12-1868 and d. 12-31-1930) These are the only Turners in the cemetary. Does anyone have info on the above family from Hardin County, TN. I am at a brick wall and have been trying to prove Indian blood so that I can go for the American Indian College Fund, as I am a student. If anyone can help or knows someone who can help please email me or post to the list. Also if anyone has a census for this time period in Hardin County or a surrounding county (or county in Mississippi). Thanks so much Mr. Robby McCain Oxford, MS (but a Water Valley, MS address) ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com

Again, Deana, thank YOU for all the information you have sent to all of us. I still have to review most of them in detail but you've enabled me to do that more easily. Also, several times you mentioned a concern for the copy-rights and it's wonderful to be in contact with people who honor other's work and efforts. So I just wanted to thank you for yours. Happy holidays and looking for to finding those "elusive" Turners in 1999! ____ jo ann rowley-minhoto, hrgg41a@prodigy.com

I'm looking for information on William Harrison Turner born in Charleston, W.Va. Feb.20,1863. He died Sept.15,1930. His second wife's name was Elizabwth Davis. I would be very greatful for any and all help on this line Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to everyone.
Hi everybody, I thought I would pass this on as a Christmas gift for all you people who are writing or who are going to write a family history. Some of these books may help you get a more intimate understanding of just how our ancestors lived. It was quite different from the way most of us live today. Enjoy!
