Brothers Andrew J and George W were killed in the WONA; brother Kinion was wounded, and hospitalized in Va for 16 months but returned to their home in Fayette County GA afer the War. Thomas, Lucinda, Madison and sister Mary were listed in the 1870 census in Randolph Co Alabama. Madison listed 1900 Randolph Co, Rock Mills District with Statira, b April, 1846, in Alabama. He grew to young manhood in this section, graduating from Centralia High School, the Missouri University and from medical schools. Last year he attended an advanced school in New Jersey. At the time of his death he was one of the leading physicians in Louisiana. During the World War he attained the rank of major in the American Army, but was not sent overseas. He was for ten years in the military service of the United States Army in the medical corps, serving during the Spanish-American War. The disease which caused his death was contracted while in service during the World War. Dr. Turner was married to Miss Grace Henry of Glasgow. One son, John Jr., blessed this union. Sharing this information that came from another newletter that I am on. Perhaps it will help others. LaDonna There is a website at http://www.linkline.com/personal/xymox/fraud/fraud.htm that discusses fraudulent lineages published by GUSTAVE ANJOU (1863-1942) and lists the 109 "genealogies" of his found at the Family History Library in Salt Lake City, Utah. The Elams are not listed, but you may want to check for other names you have been searching. There is an update which lists further fraudulent lineages. The website's main purpose is purportedly to share information on our earliest colonial ancestors. While it may be a perfectly valid venture, I have some reservations about it. They espouse the truly noble purpose of only including ancestors whose existence is proven by valid documentation. The problem I have is with their requirement that you provide a Xerox copy of a birth related document on yourself, and that of the parent your line goes through. Perhaps I am overly suspicious (10 years in the legal profession will do that to you) and this is a perfectly legitimate request, but this in conjunction with their open enrollment cutoff of 31 Aug 1999 just sounds a little fishy to me. At any rate, other people have submitted information and there are some names/biographical info in the database so you may want to have a look for your relatives.

For those who might be looking, I found on Ancestry.com, a John Turner in Kentucky who married a Betsy Johnson. Kentucky Warren County Johnson, Betsy married Turner, John on 04 Sep 1805 in Warren County, Kentucky This is record # 65604 of Marriages--Kentucky to 1850. Hope this helps someone.
