    1. [TURNER] Asa Turner
    2. Recent posts have involved my ancestor Asa Turner and his wife Rhoda (Hill) Turner. Information has them buried in Adair County Kentucky. Asa and his wife I believe died quite young and left several small children. Some of the children, including my grandfather, are found scattered with seemingly unrelated families in Illinois in the 1860 census. Does anyone out there have any information about what happened to them. I find it odd that they were living in Illinois and were buried in Kentucky. Perhaps they died during a trip back to see family. I believe they died in approximately 1858 or 1859. It seems unusual they would have gone that distance and not taken the young children (2 under five years of age) then again perhaps not considering the hard travel of the time. The family lore continues that Asa's mother Nancy Tucker Turner went to tend to these children after Asa and Rhoda's death and herself died in route to Illinois. If anyone out there can shed some light on this it would be greatly appreciated. Dave Erickson

Next he turns up in Wayne Co., PA in 1848 to marry Nancy KELLEY. He was said to have 'come from the West' - wherever that was! He died 1867 in PA. Twins seemed to run in his family for a generation or 2 after. 2. Wayne Turner
    3. I've been monitoring the TURNER line for well over a year now, and I'm just starting to see a flurry of activity on the Adair County, KY line, who came from VA at the end of the 1700's. I'm now interested in going back a few generations. Here's my ancestry from that point. Joseph TURNER, Jr. (born 1780 in VA) married Nancy TUCKER and moved to Adair County, KY where apparently he was a minister (listed as the one who performed several marriages) His father: Joseph TURNER Sr. was born in 1750 in Bedford Co.,VA. died 1800 in Adair Co. Can anyone take me back farther? If you reply to this message, be sure to send it to the whole TURNER rootsweb group and not just a reply to me. That way we get lots of folks checking. ___________________________________________________________ Wayne D.
