Anna E., b. 1849 MO, son Robert Watson TURNER, b. 1854 MO, and a dau. Mary M., b. 1862 MO. Children of Robert W. TURNER and Matilda Jane WELCH, b. 1854 MO, were William Francis, b. 1874 MO, Clarenda, b. 1878 MO, Wren, Delia or Dealy, and Dora. Robert W., Matilda Jane, William Francis and his bride Flora Laviena MOXLEY, Flora's parents, John Henry and Lucinda Jane McCOLLUM MOXLEY, and several MOXLEY siblings moved to Delaware Co., IT @1898. Later, Dora TURNER KELLY also lived there near her mother Matilda TURNER. Wren TURNER m. FLETCHER. Delia TURNER m. ROOMSBURG. Does any one on the TURNER list or around Chariton Co., MO have a connection to these TURNERS? I don't know the parents of F.M. or Patsy TURNER, where they were after the 1880 census, or what happened to their daughters. Please someone help me find even a small clue. Joanne Scobee Morgan 02/02/1883 Fatally Injured On Tuesday evening last a large party of boys were engaging in coasting on the hill near Dr. J.W. Hawkins' residence. Among the number was Lee Turner, son of John H. Turner, Jr., about 12 years of age. Lee started down the hill in what is known as "belly-buster" style -- lying on his stomach on the sled. Ernest Martyr was going up the hill drawing his sled and did not notice the approach of Lee's sled until he was struck and knocked off his feet. When he got up he saw Lee lying on the ground. John Marr and Dory Rose picked Lee up and took him to Mr. Rose's residence. After washing the blood from his face he was conveyed across the street to Mr. Birch's, where he has been boarding. Medical aid was at once summoned and an examination disclosed the fact that his skull was fractured, the membrane broken and a piece of the skull driven into the brain. After removing the piece of skull the wound was dressed and everything possible done to alleviate his sufferings. At latest accounts he was still living, but is in a very critical condition and is not expected to recover. Lee was a bright, intelligent boy, and was very popular among his school-mates. The parents have the heartfelt sympathy of the entire community in their sad affliction. No blame is attached to anyone, as it was an unavoidable accident. -- Glasgow, "Central Missourian" 02/09/1883 Lee Turner, the little fellow who was so severely injured while coasting Tuesday night of last week, is steadily improving. While the chances are still against him, the physicians say he is doing as well as could be, and far better than they expected. Should he continue to improve as steadily during the coming week, the chances will be in his favor. ==== TURNER Mailing List ==== List problems? Contact the TURNER listowner <cch@netdoor.com>
