    1. Re: [TURNER] Pleasant Turner & Agnes Woodson

    3. Very interesting. Not sure I can be of much help; however, I have a Samuel Turner, born 1812 SC who arrived in TX in 1837. I haven't been able to positively identity his family but I know that many of the Turners who came to TX had previously lived in TN. Others from TN who came to TX are Sam Houston and also Rip Ford, the famous Texas Ranger who had previously lived in Lincoln Co, TN. Samuel named his first son Pleasant. I wonder if any of these families tie together? Mary Stuart <[email protected]> wrote:Good Evening Turner-L, Am posting this in hopes that someone will be able to help me. My grandmother, 3x gr, was Nancy B. Turner., born ?abt 1786 in either VA or TN., she married Wm. Wainwright. On the 1820 census in Lincoln Co., TN., living next door to my Wm. Wainwright, is a Woodson Turner. In checking records I found in the VA County Records Vol. 6, a marriage record for Pleasant Turner and Agnes Woodson married 10-11-1781 in Goochland Co., VA. Can someone please tell me the names of Pleasant Turner and his wife Agnes Woodson's children. Strongly believe (until someone says otherwise) that Woodson Turner is their son. Can someone please tell me if Nancy Turner is the dau. of Pleasant and Agnes? Right now it's making total sense to me that she would be, based on that 1820 census, and the 1781 marriage record. Woodson is on the 1830 census, still in Lincoln Co., TN., and my Wm. and Nancy have moved on to Alabama. Would love to hear from anyone who can shed some light on this. 1. Nancy Turner Grogan
    2. Dear All Turners: It is with deep sadness to learn about Nancy Turner Grogan's passing this Monday. She will always be remembered as a loving friend to all Turners, both related and unrelated. Her dedication to the Turner Y-DNA Project as administrator with energy and enthusiasm will always be remembered as well. Like a true teacher, she would patiently explain regarding Y-DNA. Would anyone out there know where to forward all sympathy messages to Nancy's relatives? I want them to know how much we will miss Nancy. Janice It is with deep sadness that I post the obituary for my dear friend and long-time fellow genealogy researcher, Nancy Turner Grogan. Nancy was the initiator of the Turner Surname DNA Project under Family Tree DNA Company of Houston, TX. She worked tirelessly to make the project a success for each member and we will all miss her. For those who might be concerned about the project, I have worked with Nancy on it from the beginning and will continue the project. Nancy now knows all her Turner ancestors and I'm sure she is smiling down from heaven at the rest of us mortals still searching.

We have written back and forth for some time now and she was a very sweet lady. She had a brave fight with cancer and was a wonderful support to me as our son is dying of cancer and she knew the right words to say. Her work on the Turner DNA project has left a lasting legacy for each and every one of us researching our Turner lines. She will be deeply missed. Audrae Turner Mathis

    1. Henry Turner in 1860 census in Penn Twp, Allegheny Co., PA
    2. Can anyone tell me more about the Henry Turner listed above. He was living with Thomas Prichard and Isabella Prichard. Henry Turner would have been 31, a miner, born in England. I think this is my ggfather, who supposedly came to America in 1860, was a miner in England and continued to be a miner in IL and KS. So far I can't be sure of his info for the time frame between his living in England and marrying in IL. Thanks, Diann
