Please excuse my cluttering your mailbox with the first post that left my computer about the new TURNER-DNA list. I started DNA discussion lists for several surnames for which I admin the "regular" genealogy lists, and was using the same post for each, substituting the appropriate surname - except for that one, it didn't "save" the changes before it sent. Please just trash that first post about the new TURNER-DNA list, and keep the second one, with the TURNER surname throughout the post - Your embarrassed listowner, Carol C-H <[email protected]> http://www2.netdoor.com/~cch/GEN-links.htm

Dear Ulrich, I'm not sure whether they may be a connection, but there are certainly some coincidences. My GG-grandfather was Edmund Swan TURNER, supposedly born in Hereford in about 1820 to John M***del TURNER (could he be anything to do with the John MUNDELL mentioned as a witness at the end of the will in your note?) and Sarah Swan. His first marriage took place in Marylebone, London in 1845. I've just sent for the certificate, which may clarify his father's middle name and should also give his profession. I'll keep your note to hand and let you know if I spot a likely link. And perhaps you could do likewise? Deborah, Hampshire, UK ----- Original Message ----- From: "Ulrich A. I forgot to say that my Turner family is found in Jefferson Co. Ga. in the early 1800. Alexander Turner died in 1823 in Ga. I am not sure but his father name may have been John. Alexander's wife was Margaret Whigham and I know about her family but nothing of Alexander. Thanks, Lana

Am desc. from Nancy Turner, born abt. 1786 in VA/TN (census conflict). Nancy married Wm. Wainwright abt. ?1825 in Lincoln Co., TN. On the 1820 census, in Lincoln Co. living next door to Wm. is a Woodson Turner. Woodson is still there on the 1830 census. Believe that my Nancy and Woodson are siblings, and that their parents were Pleasant Turner (desc. from Terisha Turner) and Agnes Woodson. Pleasant and Agnes were married Oct. 11, 1781 in Goochland Co., VA. If anyone knows where I can locate the names of Pleasant and Agnes's children, so that I can confirm what I believe to be true, would love to hear from you. Also, would like to know how Pleasant desc. from (old) Terisha. Thank You, Mary P.S. Can anyone tell me if and where I can view the Terisha Turner Newsletters online?

Your Stephen does not fit in Admire's family, at least with information I have. If you found the will of his father in Terisha's line, I believe your Stephen is also there. One place to check is a book 'A History of The Turner Family' by William A. Roskey, American Genealogical Research Institute, Washington, DC. (1972). p-59, According to family tradition, several Turner brothers emigrated to Virginia or the Carolinas at more or less the same time. It is said that one brother came over and subsequently two or three brothers followed him. .....That Terisha and Stephen Turner were brothers. ....Both Stephen and Terisha began appearing in Virginia county records at about the same time (1750). Terisha named a son Stephen; Stephen named a son Terisha. Both settled originally in Albermarle Co., then moved to Amherst Co. There is a whole chapter on Terisha's family lineage in this book. You could probably find in at a genealogical center, or on interlibrary thru your library.
