I know Esley was in Greenville District, SC 1830 thru 1840. He then moved to Cherokee County, GA. My cousin just had the DNA test, but alas, at the present time there are no matches from the Turner DNA project. Another piece of information is that on "18 Jan 1870, Esley was murdered by William C. Turner in Pickens County, GA". This was something passed down, but two weeks ago I found this notice in the "Black Book of Georgia, pg 312 verifying how Esley died. It doesn't state why William murdered Esley. Any help on this line will be appreciated. Is there anyone doing research on Sion Turner b. abt 1765 d. July 1848 in Greenville District, SC married to Mary Hart? They died within 3 days of each other and buried in the same grave. The year Sion died was the same year Esley's son Sion Esley was born. Sion was also in Greenville District in 1830-1840. Would like to know if the Sion line has had any DNA tests. Thanks! Turner, Easley b. 1818 (Pickens Co., SC) d. 18 Jan 1870 m. Dora, Researching the Turners of your area is like trying to wade through a virtual molasses swamp. Those folks moved back and forth across that NC/VA line, owned property on both sides, and had branches of their families on both sides of the line. There are also clearly several totally unrelated groups of Turners there even at very early dates. We are getting some of them documented in the Turner DNA project in an attempt to begin to be able to separate them out. It is the only way that will happen and this will work. Gail

As I was tracing my Turner line from North Carolina I noticed that a lot of them moved around VA, Georgia, Indiana. Back and fourth, groups of them. After talking to others and looking at some of the records. FPC. I really dont think people know what this really means. Other related names are Jarrell, Scott. Garner, Goins,Mitchell.Bass And other related area's are Bertie Co. Greenville.CO VA. Would like to talk to others whose family moved around like mine. Thank you. Dora Turner Northampton Co... NC

Yes. There's a two-volume set of old newspaper repository (where-to-find-the-repositories, I mean) books, both at the FHL in Salt Lake City and in some other good reference libraries. My suggestion is to call the FHL in Salt Lake, ask for the best librarian at the U.S./Canada floor Reference Desk, and tell him or her what you want. He or she should be able to look up the repository for the microfilm you need. Microfilms of newspapers are held in weirdly diverse places. These volumes tell where. Good luck! --Carol (Huffington > Turner) Menges ----- Original Message ----- From: "terri" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Friday, April 22, 2005 1:57 PM Subject: turner obits > Hi, > Is there a way to find old obituaries?
