    1. Georgia Turner's
    2. You might want to check out the Turner DNA website, all Turner's from Georgia are not related to Meshack or descended from him. If y'all have a male Turner in your line that would do a DNA test you could eliminate Turner's that are unrelated. See http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~turnerdna/ or go to www.familytreedna.com for DNA testing information. Judy

    3. We have a Turner/Crenshaw possible connection. Our Samuel Turner was born about 1812 SC, arrived in TX in 1837, lived in Jasper Co, TX and Trinity Co, TX. He died after 1860 census but before 1870 as far as we know. One of his sons, William Cecil Turner, was on the 1880 census living with a Crenshaw family and have wondered if they were relatives. She is said to be the daughter of John McClanahan and Mary Robinson. She came to the area in late 1839 or early 1840 with a group led by her oldest son, Esli/Esly Hunt (enumerated in 1850 in Winston Co., MS). Her children were: Julia Ann b. 1815 (m. I knew from estate records in Greenville Co. that she had gone to MS to be "near her family." At first I thought this couldn't be her married to this younger Franklin Turner and thought perhaps the census taker had just failed to list her as Hunt and instead had her listed as Turner. But, after working on this group some more, I finally decided that in fact she had married this younger Franklin Turner. I am guessing that this Franklin Turner is probably the son of Thomas F. This church was just over the border to the west of Greenville Co., SC and many of these families lived on both sides of the Saluda River which separated the two counties. From those records, it appeared that Thomas Turner's wife was named Elizabeth because there were records of admissions and dismissals at the same time. There was also something in the records about their asking for letters of dismissal about 1830. There are also notes in the minutes about a dispute between Lacy Hunt and Thomas Turner and it sounded like Lacy Hunt was a member of a church in Greenville County while Thomas Turner was a member of the Peters Creek Church. They had asked some brethren from the two churches to sit down with the men to see if they could settle the issue. There was a long period of the church minutes that were were no mention of the Turners and then suddenly in 1850 it stated "Thomas Turner who had left about 20 years earlier was back." I don't know if this is the same Thomas who asked for letters of dismissal in 1830 or not. If so, did he leave poor Bettie in MS and come back? They could be two different Thomas Turners in the minutes. But, for sure, these Hunts that the Turners that Henderson seems to be near in 1850 are from Greenville Co., SC and the Turners may be those from the Pickens/Greenville area. 3. My brick wall is Isaac TURNER b May 1788 Paris, FR came to US c 1792 d 1867 Wayne Co., PA. The family name was de la TOURNEUR (var. sp.). The only information I have on him is he enlisted in the War/1812 in Mamaroneck, Westchester Co., NY. He then disappears until he 'arrives' in Wayne Co. in 1848 when he married Nancy KELL(E)Y. They had 8 children - married into the Depew and Bird families. In a newspaper interview with one of his daughters, she gave the information re her father's date and place of birth and when he came to US. I have no info at all on Isaac's parentage or siblings. Family lore says he 'came from the West' to PA and was married at least once before he married Nancy. I believe he had a son John who lived next door to Isaac/Nancy in the 1850 census in Wayne Co., PA. The name MILTON was given to several sons in those early years. The family was also prone to TWINS.
