My great aunt Emma Chapman married James Everette Turner. James was the son of Tim Turner and Ellen Rogers. James was born January 16, 1861 and married Emma Chapman, James died March 7, 1946 in Saluda County, SC and is buried at Good Hope Lutheran Church. Background Vine Turner(Consider, Richard, John, John, Humphrey) who was born abt 1790 in Scituate, MA, was living in Lempster, New Hampshire when he married Melinda Miner in 1820. Vines's first child was Charlett. His last child was Gardner W. who died in the Civil War unmarried. In the 1850 census Vine was living with his wife, and Gardner in the household of Albert (David, Joel, Ezra, Thomas, John, Richard) Porter and Candis. From the various town histories books of Cheshire County, New Hampshire I know that Candis's (DOB abt 1828) maiden name was Turner, so I am pretty sure that Candis is Vine's other daughter. (There were two daughters according to the 1830 and 1840 census.) Vine spent most of the next thirty years in and around Lempster, New Hampshire. Seeking 1. Death information-I do not know when Melinda (Lynda) and Vine died. They do not show up in the 1860 census. Considering Bedford wasn't formed until 1754 you might want to place queries in Albemarle, Brunswick, Halifax, & Lunenburg counties - any of which might have been home to your clan of Turners before Bedford due to county formations &/or migration. There are three James Turners in 18th Century Bedford Co., Va. James Turner Sr. and his male children (including James Turner Jr.) all are in the Southern District of the Bedford Co., Va Real Property Tax Rolls. And they remain in the Southern District at least through 1813. In 1787, when each of the two tax districts have separate lists, the third James Turner appears in the Northern District. They were on the Haralson Co., GA census in 1860, Cleburne Co., AL in 1870, Etowah Co., AL in 1880 and in 1900 Reuben was living with his youngest son, James R. in Etowah Co., AL.
