    3. Well, that's not me but I do have both Franklin and Turners. The Franklins go back to Thomas Barton Franklin from Richland Co,SC, died in 1808, moved over to St Tammany Parrish, LA and then into MS, LA and finally TX. Some of the extended family had went straight into Marion Co, MS. 1. Still Searching: George H. Turner, VA
    2. Janice E. Hydock
    3. Seems to be a lot of activity on the list recently so thought I'd repost one of my brick walls. Looking for ANY connections to George H. TURNER, born between 1842-1850 in Virginia. Had sister Melissa Ann RICHARDSON born between 1855-1859, probably in Richmond, HENRICO County, and a brother Will (William?) Richardson. The Richardson siblings MAY have been children of David and Sarah Richardson. Census for 1860 Richmond shows a son George but not with last name Turner in the David and Sarah Richardson family, along with a daughter Melissa. George and family would have been living in the CAMPBELL County (just above Lynchburg) area in the 1880's. Any connections out there? Janice

    1. James L. & Martelia (Condra) Turner
    2. Donna Turner
    3. Do any of you know anything about James L., born abt. 1830, and Martelia (Condra) Turner, born abt 1829? They were living in Tennessee before moving to Walker County, Georgia and then migrated to Arkansas sometime before 1860. He died during the Civil War but I cannot find his wife, Martelia (I'm not sure about the spelling of her name) after that. Two of their children, Rhoda and Millie were living back in Tennessee when the 1870 census was taken. Rhoda was living with James' parents, Fielding and Nancy Turner. Millie was living with what I assume to be Martelia's parents, James and Rhoda Condra. Both families were living in Marion County. I would appreciate anything on them. Thank you, Donna

    1. James Everette Turner and Emma of Saluda/Edgefield Co. SC
    2. Gail R. Blancett
    3. Margie, The 1900 Census of of Saluda Co., SC shows: Turner, James----head----May 1857--age 43--married 15 years Turner, Emma---wife-----May 1868---age 32--married 15 years--5 children/4 living Turner, Barnnie---son-----Jan or June 1886----14 Turner, Clarence--son----Apr 1885----15 Turner, Sallie-----dau----Feb 1896-----4 Turner, Otis------son----Feb 1898------2 Saluda County was formed in 1896 from Edgefield Co., SC. It was formed from the eastern portion of the county. Prior to that, this area was probably in what was in the previous census called Saluda Regt. or Division. So, with the census saying they had been married 15 years and assuming they hadn't moved very far from where they lived before marriage, then it looks like a reasonable year of marriage was about 1884 in Edgefield Co., SC. You are not apt to find the marriage record unless it happened to be in some church or newspaper references. SC did not start keeping vital statistics records until around 1911 or so. 1910 Census the family is still in Saluda Co., SC and James is listed as 49 married once; Emma is 49 married once, Clarence is 19; Sallie is 17; Odis is 12; ---ammie (can't make out this name but it is a daughter) age 9; Izona age 4. Emma says she has given birth to 9 children with 6 living. Barney H. Turner has already married Janie and he is head of household listed as married 3 years with daughter Inez.. The ages of Emma and James seem off in both years but this is certainly the right couple. So, I then checked 1920 and 1930 to see how the ages looked. In 1920, James was 62 and Emma 58; Sallie age 24; Odis age 21; Izona age 15. In 1930, James was 67 and Emma 68; daughter Mamie Lewis was 30 a widow; a grandson Austin Turner age 15 was living with them. The census is thus all over the place on age for James and Emma. Guess you have to go by something else. Do you have the parents of James located yet? Gail The number of years married has been written over but it appears to be 24 or 19. The 24 would be most in aggreement with the 1900 Census. I think I'd go with the 1900 birth year as it is closer ot the event and certainly is compatible with
