    3. Hi, I recently discovered that one of my ancestors, called Stella Calamaro, may have come from some jewish family, maybe in the Corfu island. Are you aware of such a Calamaro family? I strongly think she may have some "Riso Calmaro" as her grand-father. Are you aware of him? Regards, -- Thomas Baruchel

    1. GREIF
    2. Good morning, I am searching for my family roots. My grandparents came from a town which at the time was located in Austria Hungary, then it was occupied by Ukraine and now it is part of Romania ( I could be wrong as to which country held it at which time). It has been a difficult search for me even though the family name is not a very common name, the name is GREIF. I did find a number of GREIF's buried in Istanbul, Turkey and was hoping that someone on this list would recognize the name and help me in my search. Any and all information would be gratefully accepted. Good luck to all of us on our searches. I have and read Dalven's book Jews of Ioannina where she mentions Italian names. She goes on to write that many Jews came to Ioannina from southern Italy and only their Italian names remain. She also explained how the name Matza came into being. I have found my name (Corito) in Tuscany Italy and that the name dates back to Helen of Troy.
