Lots of people moved from the north, especially from PA, down the Great Valley Road into southwestern VA and the Carolinas in the mid- and late-1700s, especially as the Indians were subdued, lands surveyed and families grew, running out of good land in the north. Many of these folks were descendants of the earlier Scots-Irish and German immigrants. Some of their own descendants in turn settled KY and TN and points largely south and west. --- Kathy Leigh <kroseleigh@leighdesigns.us> wrote: > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "Paul Tucker" <patucker@comcast.net> > To: "TUCKER-L@Rootsweb" <TUCKER-L@rootsweb.com> > Sent: Thursday, March 04, 2004 11:59 AM > Subject: {not a subscriber} Tucker, William, b > 1767 to 1790 SC or VA or even > the NE? > > > > Lately, there has been a lot of discussion > about Tuckers from the > > Northeastern US.
