TUCKER, Samuel Mason is my BRICK WALL. I do not know his parents names. There was no place of birth on his Civil War record. The only record I have of his birth place is on his eldest daughter's death record which is listed is as Maine. This information was given by his wife. Samuel and Julia A. Delaney were married in Parishville, St. Lawrence Co., NY in May of 1844 according to Julia's Pension for Widows records. I have found the family in the town of Scriba, Oswego Co., NY in 1850 (Samuel's age is 30 (born abt. 1820)and Julia's age is 26) and this family is no longer there in 1855. In 1860 they are in Crawford Co., WI. His age listed at enlistment in the Civil War is 44, which would make his year of birth 1818. Possibly listing the names of their children might be similar to other Tucker families. Children of Samuel Tucker and Julia Delaney are: Maryette (Marietta) Tucker, born June 09, 1845 in Oswego, NY; died February 06, 1899 in Lindinia, Juneau Co., WI (at Mother's residence). Sarah Ann Tucker, born January 28, 1848 in NY; died August 26, 1849 in NY. George Henry Tucker, born May 13, 1850 in Oswego Co. town of Scriba, NY; died February 27, 1907 in Phillipsburg, KS. Augustus Tucker, born August 17, 1852; died August 24, 1853. Augusta Tucker, born August 17, 1852; died January 07, 1855. Charles Samuel Tucker, born January 07, 1855; died May 12, 1907 in Lawrenceburg, TN. Francis William Tucker, born April 19, 1857 in Milwaukee, WI; died December 12, 1931 in Compton, Willowbrook Pr., Los Angeles Co., CA. Alameda Lodoska Tucker, born April 10, 1859; died July 17, 1884 in Mauston, Juneau Co. WI. John Winfield Tucker, born October 23, 1861; died March 26, 1863 in Prairie du Chien, Crawford Co., WI. Benjamin Theodore Tucker, born June 09, 1864 in Prairie du Chien, WI; died August 25, 1945 in New Lisbon, WI. Angeline M. Tucker, born January 21, 1867 in Prairie du Chien, Crawford County, WI; died July 03, 1937 in Oakland, Almeda Co., CA. Thanks for any suggestions, Karen Weiss
...I forget to search for your Sarah Tucker...here's the results: Sarah Tucker b. abt. 1815, Sarah Tucker b. aft. 1845, Sarah Ann Tucker b. 1846, Sarah Elizabeth b. 1845, Sarah Frances Tucker b. December 4, 1850, Sarah I. Tucker b. aft. 1830, Sarah Jane Tucker b. aft. 1855, Sarah Maria Tucker b. April 15, 1853, Sarah Susan Tucker b. 1841; to your Sarah Ann Tucker, born January 28, 1848. These are mostly from the John4 Tucker m. Alice Card line.....and the name was common also because these Tuckers, as my Brownings, were all (Rhode Island) Quakers, from the 1640s through the 1870s. Another line of inquiry would be to check the RI Quaker records for the South Kingstown RI meetings, in order to determine which Christian names were popular in those communities...this would further reinforce a connection. All the best, Barry Hale Browning .
