    3. My grandmother 'Katie' Tucker had very black hair and didn't turn gray early. Have always been told that she was part Indian but I have not had any luck finding our anything on her Tucker line. Her father was James A Tucker born in Mississippi 12/2/1835 his death certificate list his father as Martin Tucker but so far I haven't discovered a Martin Tucker anyplace. 3. Hi Karen, My grandmother, Norris Tucker, also had very black hair. It NEVER turned gray and she died in her 80s. I have three Martin Tucker's in my database: Martin L. Tucker b. abt 1846, son of Daniel Tucker and Lavina Biggers. Daniel Tucker died in Cabarrus Co., NC and Lavina Biggers Tucker died in Stanly Co. NC. Another Martin L. Tucker (no birthdate) son of L. Rufus Tucker b. abt 1864 and Sarah M. Furr b.3 May 1863. Lastly, Martin A. Tucker b. 1878 (most likely Stanly Co NC) He is brother to my great-grandfather, Joe Cephas Tucker. They are the sons of Leonard Tillman Tucker and Margaret Ellen Morton. This is my direct line for my grandmother, Norris Tucker Denham. Margaret Ellen Morton descends from Ezekiel Morton and Elizabeth Brumbelow. She is the one many Tuckers will swear is a "Cherokee Indian Princess" and they insist her father's name was Chief/Judge Edward Brumbelow. There are to camps divided on this, but I was told that my great-great-Aunt Edna Tucker had asked her daughter if she was still "receiving Indian money". The Brumbelows are supposedly Tribe #108 in the Oklahoma registry. I don't know what any of this information is worth (probably not much, since it's hearsay). My Martin A. Tucker married Alice Byrd, also of Stanly Co., NC. Maybe this will be a connection! Good luck and good hunting, Tammy Finney Roberts ----- Original Message ----- From: "Karen McAndrew" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Sunday, January 13, 2002 5:32 PM Subject: [TUCKER-L] Tucker hair > My grandmother 'Katie' Tucker had very black hair and didn't turn gray early.
