Mary, You are probably right about the duplication of names. I have found that this occurred in NC. Sometimes the "companies" of various poll takers overlapped and one poll taker may not have been aware that another poll taker had already enumerated a family. I am VERY interested in anything you might uncover on the Tuckers of White County, Tennessee. I'm sure that my Aaron must have been connected to them and I really would love to learn how. I know that Evan DAVIS signed Aaron's land transaction in Rowan County, NC in 1802. So, apparently he had a connection (even if it wasn't a direct family one) with the DAVIS family. Also, I believe George W. Tucker to be a part of the Tucker family that was in Rowan County, NC when Aaron was. How were they connected or WERE they connected? It seems likely. Joan, Look for Tuckers in 1800 Census, Rutherford Co., NC, and Middlesex Co., VA farther back... Alexander Fraser of White Co was listed in both. Alexander Fraser and GW Tucker were in the same area. Two of GW's daughters m. Fraser's as did his son Carroll. GW and Elizabeth Tucker are buried in Fraser's Chapel Cem. in the area where they all lived. Wilsons were also in Rutherford Co and they were in the area and connected to the family... farther back Albemarle Parish, Surry Co., VA. Archibald Welch b. 1798 ? d. White Co - same area, 2 of his children m. Fraser's also... Merideth Baker m. Jane "Jenny" Tucker... Dodson Family of North Farnham Parish, Richmond Co., VA"> TN Solomon Dodson had Samuel Dodson who m. Wlizabeth Tucker GW's d... same area and connections. William Hitchcock's d. Malinda m. John Richmond Tucker... Robert Glenn... possible father of Wm's wife... and Cornelius Davis b. in NC who m. Matilda Tabitha Tucker. His father was James Davis b. 1762 of Agusta Co., VA. d. Wayne Co KY. James m. Nancy Pointer for one... I have copies of all the Tucker deeds from White Co. Will check on other neighbors when I get time.
