BROOKS of the county of TAYLOR and COMMONWEALTH of KENTUCKY are held and firmly bound unto the said COMMONWEALTH, in the full and just sum of FIFTY POUNDS (equal to one hunderd and sixty-six dollars and sixty-six and two-thirds cents) current money; for the payment whereof well and truly to be made to the saidd Commonwealth, we bind outselves, our heirs, executors, and administrators, jointly and severally, firmly by these presents, sealed with our seals, and dated this 4th DAY of JANUARY, 1855 The Condidtion of the above Obligation is such, That, whereas there is a Marriage shortly to be had and solemnized between the above bound, JOHN S. TUCKER and MARY M. BROOKS for which purpose a License has been issued by the State of Kentucky; Now therefore in case these shall be no lawful cause to obstruct said Marriage, then the above obligation shall be void, otherwise the same shall be and remain in full force and virture. Hearld Newspaper dated March 16, 1916........reprinted in the March 27, 1996 paper "DEATH OF JOHN TUCKER" John S. Tucker, age 88 died at his home near Maxine last week. He was a native of South Carolina. Heart Trouble was the cause of death. Four Children survive W. J. Tucker and Mrs. Martha Brooks of this county, and Mrs. Dora Robinson of Franklin, Tennessee and a daughter, by his second wife, Mrs. Clara Pennington. ***************************************************************************************************************** In the LaRue County Vital Stats 1880 John Tucker owned a slave, Abe Tucker F.L. Tucker Mollie Tucker VERSUS Mollie Tucker Clara Pennington Dora Robinson Ernest Pennington I.R. Robinson Mattie Brooks The Plaintiffs state that John S. Tucker, died intestate in LaRue Co., KY on the __ day of March, 1916 leaving as his only Heirs at Law his Widow, the Plaintiff, Elizabeth Tucker; the Plaintiff, Clara Pennington, a daughter, the Defendant W.J. Tucker a son, the Defendant. Dora Robinson, a daughter and the Defendant, Mattie Brooks another daughter. The Plaintiff, Ernest Pennington, is the husband of the Plaintiff, Clara Pennington; the Defendant, Mollie Tucker is the wife of the Defendant, W.J. Tucker; the Defendant, I.R. Robinson is the husband of the Defendant, Dora Robinson, and the Defendant, Mattie Brooks is a single woman having intermarried with one L.T. Brooks who is now dead. Plaintiffs further state that the said Decedent, left besides his personal property, real estate, of which he was the owner and in possession, at the time of his death, described as follows: A certain tract of land in LaRue Co., KY on the waters of _______ containing 146 acres be the same more or less Barren Run and bounded as follows, TO WIT: They state that the Defendants, Dora Robinson and I.R. Robinson are nonresidents of the state of KY, and absent therefrom. That they reside in Williamson Co., state of Tennessee and get their mail on Route # ___ out of the City of Franklin. Wherefore they pray that a Homestead be allotted to the said Widow, Elizabeth Tucker, that the remainder of the said land be sold and the proceeds divided among the said Heirs as their several interest appear, for an allowance for their attorney, and that the costs be properly apportioned and allowed between teh several interest herein adn for all Orders and Relief in Equity belonging.
