KILLED BY LIGHTNING Mr. Isaac Tucker Killed While Going to Church. Mr. Isaac Tucker, one of the county's most popular and progressive young farmers was killed by lightning about three miles below Autreyville Friday afternoon. Mr. Tucker lives eight miles above Moultrie, and with his daughter, Julia, was on his way to Harmony church in the lower part of the county, where an annual meeting was in session. He stopped at the home of a negro named Henry Hancock and sought shelter from a rain under the front end of a barn. He and his daughter were standing close to each other and he was holding his horse, when the fatal stroke came. The current seems to have passed through the roof overhead and struck Mr. Tucker in the head cutting the flesh in several places on the head and neck and killing him instantly. The daughter was also stricken to the ground, and did not recover consciousness for many hours. The negro, Henry Hancock was standing across the road and witnessed the occurrence. The remains of Mr. Tucker were returned to his home and were buried Sunday at Bridge Creek cemetery. Mr. Tucker was a son of the late Elder Crawford Tucker, famously known as the father of 32 children. Of the 32, nineteen, (14 boys and 5 girls) survive to mourn the tragic death of their brother. He leaves a wife and six children also. He was a brother to policeman Noah Tucker, deputy sheriff E. W. Tucker, County surveyor, Mathew Tucker, Elder Ansel Tucker and others of the family who are the best known and most popular citizens of the county.
