    3. Hi, I am back to the Tucker research after taking a "breather" from it for some time. I thought that I might be able to gain a fresh perspective if I rested from it for a while. I found some information to the effect that William Tucker who married Matilda COATES was the son of George Tucker who married Jemima MALONE. This lineage further states that this George was the son of another William who was born in Charles City Co. VA in 1691. This William's wife is supposedly Elizabeth MICHAUX(?), daughter of Abraham and Suzanne (ROCHET) MICHAUX. This William is supposedly the son of Captain Robert Tucker who married Elizabeth COLEMAN. In additional information, I find that George (who married Jemima) was born September 4, 1723 in Bristol Parrish, Prince Georges County, VA. Jemima's birthdate is given as circa 1725 Their childre are listed as: Samuel TUCKER Robert TUCKER George TUCKER, JR. William TUCKER Nathaniel TUCKER born between 1756-1760 John TUCKER born 1763 NC Ruhama TUCKER born 1764 Guilford, N.C. Enoch TUCKER It is my theory that the George W. Tucker who was in White Co. TN on census and tax lists, was probably this George TUCKER, JR. William also had a son named George. I have recently been told by another Tucker researcher that this George W. Tucker of White Co. TN is the same George Tucker mentioned in the Goodspeed history of Madison Co. AR. He is mentioned as "George Tucker drove the first wagon to this section in the fall of 1828, from Cane Hill, Washington County. With Samuel and Daniel Vaaughan, he had explored the region in the previous spring. Tucker settled on what is known as the Sheridan Bottom, on the border of Washington County." There was a story in our family that some of our family were headed from MO to the "Boston Mountains" in AR, when one of the family members became ill and some of them remained behind in MO. In another Goodspeed reference we find that "The settlers on White River prior to 1834 were: ROBERT TUCKER, who came from Cape Girardeau County, MO" He "arrived in September of 1833 with a LARGE FAMILY OF GROWN SONS." Also among the settlers named is the father of CLEVE ESTEP (one of our ladies married an ESTEP), William TUCKER of NC. This could have been one of Robert's GROWN SONS??? In another reference, I find that "There is a long history of migration from the various counties that make up Middle TN into Madison Co. AR. Since the "Boston Mountains extend east and west across the southern part of the county, between the head-waters of White and Mulberry Rivers", I am very interested in the Tuckers who settled in this region. Can anyone expand on the above information? Joan _______________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Declare Yourself - Register online to vote today! http://vote.yahoo.com

    3. Joan, after all these years I'm still trying to connect my James Tucker, Sr., born 1759, in Halifax Co., NC, to some part of your Tucker family. As you may recall, James says in his Rev War Pension application that his father's name was Robert (possibly born sometime between 1709-1739). He mentions a cousin Lewis from Guilford Co., NC who took his place in the War after he was injured. I still think that these families are connected. Perhaps James' father Robert was a brother to your George, Sr. Still you don't show a Lewis among the children of George and Jemima. Maybe there was another brother of George, Sr. also living in Guilford Co. at that time. Maybe something in our information will ring a bell with someone on the list. I have children of James, Sr. as James, Jr., John, Nancy, Julia, Wyley and Elizabeth, but not all are confirmed. I know what you mean about taking a breather from the Tucker research--I've done the same thing because I'm at a dead end as to James Sr.'s ancestors. >Hi, >I am back to the Tucker research after taking a >"breather" from it for some time.
